Thumbs down Key system warning light issue!!!

Okay..I am a owner of a 370z 2009 I went to start my car and a orange key shows up. I couldnt start my car...then I called nissian they tell me that the key has no batteries and needed to be changed. So I get a ride to Nissan and they changed it/tested the key and it was a go. I get back and now a red car w a red key in the middle is flashing fast and the brakes locked up/steering wheel as well. so now I call them back and they tell me that they have to reprogram it! So...then I get a call saying they needed to order a part that 1000.00 and its ********!! They know this issue! I called all over and this is where we all need to call 1-800-nissan1 I did and they deined my claim we need to help each other please call nissan1 and tell them your having the same issue!!!
Message me if you need anything or questions! This needs to be a recall!!!

I'm wondering if this is a problem specific to 2009s?

Steering wheel lock issue?

Did you try the key in the key slot to the right of the steering wheel?

This sounds like the well-known steering lock issue. There are several threads on that here. It appears to be a problem with the steering wheel lock solenoid and it's replaced with the solenoid they've been using in the 2010, 2011, 2012. It's seems to be rare that this issue ever comes up in any model year other than 2009.

Not a recall. I don't think there's even a TSB on it, but it's a well-known problem.

if you had the lock failure be sure to file a complaint here

https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm

there have been many reports of this failure on this forum alone if everyone files the complaint the government will force the recall
northben likes this.

Waiting for my sttering lock to go as well. Seems a lot of them are failing right now. I hope there is a recall. I dont feel like paying $500 to replace the stupid thing. Good luck getting your prob dealt with Jenny.

its seems that the cold weather might be causing this. I hardly saw any post about it during the summer. My steering lock went a few days ago. I call nissan today and they said they're going to "investigate" it.
