Correct Motor Oil to use in my 370z?
Hi everyone after my first oil change and maintenance service at the Nissan Dealership service department. I will be doing my own oil changes. I really need to know what is the correct motor oil and weight to use in the 370z's? What brand motor oil do they use for the factor fill? I plan on using Valvoline SynPower 5W30 and a K/N or Mobil 1 oil filter. What does Ester additive do to your engine?

There are many, many threads on this subject already. Search is your friend.

I would look at the book in the glove compartment. Unlike I did, I chose mobil 1 10W30 which was wrong but I live in florida. The cheapest is always at walmart but I would be more concerned about the filter which is slim pickings at walmart.

Thank you for not answering my question. I will be using Valvoline 5W30 SynPower synthetic motor oil and a K&N or Mobil 1 oil filter in my 370Z when my first oil change comes.

You are most welcome. Thank you for not bothering to do a little research before asking your question.

OP, you need to search more and create less new threads. I know the site's search feature isn't the best, but it'll get you what you need. The Z34 has been around for almost a decade. Everything you have asked has been answered many times. People will be much kinder and more helpful when it looks like you have expended at least the bare minimum effort to find the answer yourself before making a new thread.

The manufacturer recommended oil is the Nissan Ester Oil 5W30. It's now up to you to use that or go with an aftermarket oil. If you do go aftermarket, try to stick to ester-based synthetic oils. There is a reason for this and it has to do with our engine's unique VVEL system. It keeps everything quiet on startup and idle.
Technically, you are allowed to use any 5W30 synthetic oil you want. Just giving you Nissan's recommendation and explanation.

Below is the cost of ester oil. until warranty is over you could have it done at the stealership for about $100. I bought my car used and record showed ester oil changes for 3 yrs.

VooDoo aside....the correct answer to most automobile oil questions is usually "Mobil 1".
Automotive lubrication is probably the most overthought and pointlessly-argued subject on the internet. |

Agreed. Any quality oil of the appropriate weight, changed on schedule and not subject to excessive heat, will be fine. Pick your preferred flavor, get an oil analysis, and if the numbers look right go on with your life.
