Brake Light Switch Install DIY?
The ABS and Traction Control lights have started to come on randomly the last couple of days but disappear when I restart the car. The car gives a C1116 code which is a Stop Lamp Circuit Fault.
My guess is that I need to replace the Brake Light Switch 25300-62J0E | Genuine Nissan #2530062J0E SWITCH ASSY-ASCD CANCEL Can anyone point to instructions on how to replace this switch? Thanks! Last edited by Trips; 12-21-2016 at 11:43 AM. |

Look under the dash and follow the brake pedal to the highest point you should see the switch.
it is held in place by a locking nut that needs to be loosened so it can be removed. Make a note of the position of the original so the replacement is installed correctly. If the adjustments off the brake lights will either stay on while no brakes are being applied or they won't come on since its over adjusted. EDIT: IF your brakes light do come as normal? There's nothing wrong with the tail light switch and you'll have to disregard my above instructions. Good Luck! Last edited by Trips; 12-13-2016 at 04:15 PM. |

The switch maybe fine.
But from what I've searched and read it seems that low brake fluid level will cause the lights to come on. Help! VDC, ABS, and Traction lights on out of no where |

Yea, I read that thread when I searched as well. My brake fluid level is normal. I went and checked the other fluids as well and found the Power Steering fluid is slightly below the Low line. But would low PS fluid result in ABS and Traction indicators to come on?
Edit: Also every time the two lights have come on, I was either stopped or driving less than 5 mph in street traffic. |

Thanks Trips for all your responses.
That user must have posted that story in a couple different forums, since I read that same thing elsewhere. It is because of his story that I feel replacing the brake light switch just has to be my first step. A local shop wants to charge me $100 + part cost to change the switch tomorrow. But I'll take a closer look at the switch tonight to see if I can manage myself. |

You can replace it yourself not to difficult maybe a pia to get too because of the location. Just make sure it's installed in the same position it came out so there are no issues also take the time to count the exposed threads if need be. I've yet to encounter this issue so any further help I'd be simply wasting my and your time. Hopefully another whom may have experienced this can chime in if it still needs to be resolved after you change out the switch. Good Luck! |

Here's the summary and resolution:
2012 with 42k miles For three consecutive days the ABS and Traction Control lights would light up during my commute. It consistently occurred when my car was at a stop. I went to a local shop who was able to retrieve the error code. C1116 - Stop Lamp Circuit Fault. That's when I began searching online and decided that replacing the stop light switch was the best place to start. My local Nissan service wanted $175 to perform a diagnostic and then charge $100 for labor plus the cost of the switch. I purchased the part for $47 at the Nissan parts department because I just wanted to get this taken care of asap. Would of been around $33 plus shipping if I ordered it online. Following the above instructions that Trips provided. I found the switch and started taking pictures to make sure I knew the exact position of the switch. Install was very easy. Unplug the white plug above and then turn the switch 90 degrees to release it. Insert the new switch making sure to match the previous number of exposed threads. Turn 90 degrees again to lock in place and reinsert the white plug. It's been a couple of days without issue. Will report back if anything changes.
