Default inclusion (Security+ Gold) vs exclusion (Carchex) warranty?

To start i just wanted to say I want a warranty, i know some people feel it would be better to just stash the cash and save for a rainy day, but not me, I like the thought of $100 deductible if anything were to happen. IMO, If my motor for any odd reason were to go or anything like that, the $3500 i'd save at first wouldn't cover the expense for repair or replace.
So after I purchased my z, I purchased a carchex titanium package warranty, supposedly the best aftermarket warranty available. But when I went in for service I saw the Nissan Security plus Gold preferred package, so I sat with the salesman and ended up purchasing cause I figured i'd rather the one from Nissan that is accepted at every Nissan across the country.
The one from Nissan was about $3500 and the one from carchex was about $2900, but the price really isnt whats bothering me. I want the better coverage. So i called Carchex to cancel and was told that the Security plus Gold package was a lower warranty package then the titanium package from Carchex. The guy said the Security plus gold was an inclusion warranty vs theirs which was an exclusion warranty. And I kind of understand the difference but whats really better, I mean it seemed like the Security plus gold included most everything that i would worry about but the Carchex also only excludes mainly maintenance type parts. What do you guys think? Have you had experience with either good or bad? Which is better? I still have a couple days before the cancel in the first 30 days rule they have.

Honestly, I bought an extended warranty when I bought my Z, super duper platinum coverage for 4000 bucks and it wasn't worth it. I went back to the dealer about a year after purchasing the Z and sold it back to him, they sent 3500 or so do my bank and dropped it down from 12k to a little over 8k. I know having the peace of mind is nice, but get a credit card with a decent limit and don't line their pockets anymore. Zs are pretty bulletproof, I autoX mine, drag race mine, all kinds of ****, and she's been damn good to me. Pushing 70k miles.

Only go with extended warranties backed by the manufacturer. I had Carchex and it was a bad decision. Here are the problems I had with them:

1) Unlike the sale department, the claim department doesn't pick up the phone very often and they only work 8 - 8 Monday through Friday. So, you will need to work like a middle man between Carchex and your shop. In contrast, if you have Nissan warranty and go to Nissan dealership for repair, you don't need to get involve.
2) There is a maximum amount of labor cost they pay per hour (like $60, if i remember correctly). If you go to a shop that charges more, you pay the difference.
3) They use "compatible" parts. If you want OEM, you pay the difference.
4) When you get so frustrated with them and want to cancel the contract, they charge $1xx of cancellation fee.

They money you spend on 2) and 3) can easily be more than the initial saving you get in a repair or two.

Good luck.

I want to type so much but I get burned out.

Nissan makes a very shítty car. Buy the OEM warranty. Spring for the $0 deductible plan. 8/120 plan if you can afford it.

How are you planning on buying a warranty for your very used 370Z? $3500 sounds really cheap...

Just bought another extended warranty from the dealer yesterday. It has Gold+ coverage (72/60000) for about $2000. This has a diminishing $100 deductible which means if I get the car fixed at my Nissan dealer, the deductible is waived. It also has towing, rental car for 10 days, and trip reimbursement if something happens more than 100 miles from home. It is not, however, a NISSAN factory warranty, which means the car can be repaired by ANY ASE Certified shop/mechanic. Was skeptical at first, but after reading the contract fully, I feel that this is exactly what will work for ME.

I plan on keeping the Z for a long time, so this little bit to pay, may (or may not) be worth it. I wasn't really planning on any crazy mods (S/C, TT) so there shouldn't be anything to worry about in the long run.

With the CSC issues, steering lock non-starting, and other well-documented issues, the piece of mind to me is worth it. Time will tell if this was a good decision or not.

The company if anyone is interested is:

When I purchased my 11' 370z I went with a CPO and worked in the Extended Gold + coverage. I was coming from a used BMW 335i, the repair costs were ridiculous $$, numerous times at the dealer and that car was a pure headache in my case. I'd rather have peace of mind knowing there won't be a huge charge later if something were to happen. So it's been 2 years since my purchase, car is runs great but just noticed my valve cover gaskets are leaking. No worries from me, i'll just bring it in to Nissan and get it fixed. IMHO I can't really go by people saying their cars have no issues and don't suggest needing the extended coverage because you could be in that small percentage with issues. Do what makes you feel more comfortable and what better suits what you can afford.
