Default 370Z Roadster roof problem, a different one....

Hi, I have had my 370Z roadster for about a month and loving it, however yesterday noticed a problem with the roof which after searching on here cannot seem to find.

Upon closing the roof once the fabric bit is over the top and clipped into the front screen, the big metal bit then clips into its final position, however, occasionally mine seems to want to go in one side but the other side doesn't, which in turn makes it kind of twist, then it stops? I can reopen the hood and it levels up and opens fine. If I keep it square with my hand at the same time its fine? Any ideas? Could it be a cable or something, are there any adjustments on these? I have recently come out of an SL500 Mercedes that had hood issues so have a bit of knowledge on them!

Thanks

I'm assuming its out of warranty so I'll tell you my experience over on this side of the pond. Call your favorite body shop and ask them who does the convertible top work. Most all shops around here, even many of the dealers, sub out the soft top work to a few guys who really know their stuff. It's almost always alignment issues and can be fixed easily.

Not sure if its the same every where but that's what I learned from Pontiac and BMW roof issues. YMMV.

Good luck!

Hi, yes its out of warranty by a couple of months!! I was hoping I could figure it out myself as its only mechanics and switches.... Would the service manual have details on how it operates?

Thanks

Is this what you are thinking of?

Lid Cover contacting Roof

I also have had roof issue, from wearing, to the roof hitting the top piece above the window.Every time i took it in under warranty, my advise is don't mess with it in anyway that the dealership can come back and say you caused it and void the warranty. The roof is just to costly of a repair to take that chance.

I had a wear mark in the roof, when the dealership looked at it they found a clip in the holding area that was rubbing the roof every time it went down, I am sure if I messed with it they would have blamed me for the clip being out of place.

Good luck,

it doesnt seem to be wearing anywhere or touching the fabric bit its very odd!

I've just gone and tried it again and its fine now?!! I put it up and down about 5 times and it was perfect? Does it have some kind of self adjustment or something on them? Very strange!

Thanks

Question

Hello,

I, recently purchased a 2010, and was wondering what this is about or referring to.

Pictures?
I would like to know so, I may be aware of it.
Perhaps, even prevent it or keep an eye on my warranty (only 6k so still in warranty).

Thanks!
