Default Drivers window will not close

My problem is with the driver's window. When I open the driver's door and the window drops to clear the top, it doesn't go back up afterwards. The passenger side works fine. I tried swapping the door light/open switches, but it had no effect. So I'm guessing the window motor isn't getting the signal to close. The window itself works fine, up and down. Anyone ever had an issue like this?
It's getting kinda old having to go all the way around the car and have to sit in the passenger seat lean waaay over and close the window via the switch. I'm not getting any younger, and all those extra steps are keeping me from my lazyboy and reruns of Sons of Anarchy. I'm hoping it's something easy and cheap (like my first wife) Any help is always appreciated as always.

Thanks

Did you try to reset the window top positions?

Quote:
Pull the power window switch and hold it to close the window, and then hold the switch more than 3 seconds after the window is closed completely. 5. Release the power window switch. Operate the window by the automatic function to confirm the initialization is complete.

You may want to try disconnecting the negative battery terminal ... then wait a couple of minutes and re-connect it. It may re-set the window function.

that's exactly how it will behave when it hasn't been "reset". Somehow it's lost it's calibration, it doesn't know how far up to put the window when you close the door, so the software tells it to do nothing. Just needs a reset.

Many thanks for the help! I managed to fix the issue by doing the 20 second reset.
1..) Ignition in the on position
2.) lower the window all the way, and hold the button down for a slow 20 second count
then
3.) raise the window all the way, and hold the button up for a slow 20 second count
4.) stop holding your breath....and enjoy a window that works properly :0P

I gotta say the folks here really know their stuff. Owning a car like this is made much better by having people that enjoy and appreciate the car as much as I do, and are willing to offer knowledge freely. I'm a grumpy old fart, and my Z is my retirement present to myself. We all know the repair bills can cripple a bank account, and even minor issues run into the hundreds of dollars. So being able to fix some things myself is made all the easier because of this site and the folks that answer the questions on the car. I drive mine like a madman at times, because it's just so much fun to do so. It's such a well built car and it would be a waste if it never had a chance to step out and hit the high numbers, or to show a mustang what the tail lights look like every once and awhile....
