Default Convertible top seam failure

If it were out of warranty, I'd just have it stitched, and I offered that as a solution to them, but Nissan said to replace it. Cool. I'll get rid of that horrible pine pitch stain!

Just a quick question. Does the Z sit outside all the time? Well a least it is still under warranty.

How is this under warranty? extended warranty? I thought the basic warranty was a 3y / 36k warranty. I've got a spot around the passenger window that came loose from the inside.

I have the Platinum extended warranty - something like 7 years or 100k miles. I don't have the paperwork in front of me right now but I'm pretty sure the fabric of the top is specifically not covered.

I just assume that eventually I'll have to replace the fabric top. It is, after all, fabric. I'm expecting around $1k plus installation when the time comes. Just part of having a Roadster. Kind of like 17mpg Premium is the price one pays for having a sports car. Or a maximum of 15k miles on a set of rear tires that cost $1500 for the whole set.

These cars are for young guys with good jobs and no kids, or old guys with good jobs, or a great retirement plan, who sold the kids to the Gypsies years ago. (No I'm not retiring and no they can't come home to live.)

Well damn you about got this roadster thing figured out. I can check off everything about owning one. The gypsies were real glad to get the kids.

On the other note, I have a 7yr. extended warr. & it does say the fabric is NOT covered. Like you say, have to know the cost of owning a roadster.

It's the original factory warranty. I have a few months left on it. The original owner bought it new but in the next model year, and only put 7000K on it.

I can't believe they're going to replace the whole top for that one little seam coming undone! It looks like it could be stitched up pretty easily. I'd keep a close eye on their top install, hopefully they don't create a new problem! It's a complicated mechanism. Good luck.

Yeah, my fear as well. I pick it up today. They subcontract to a convertible top specialist who comes onsite to do the work. Fingers crossed...

I'm pretty sure I'd be more comfortable with a company that works on tops all the time rather than the Nissan mechanic who has only seen a Roadster when it comes in for tires or an oil change.
