Do I Extend the Extended Warranty or let it expire?
I have a 2010 Roadster Sport +Nav with about 29,000KM’s on it. I have not had any major issues yet with the car. I had the top soft top repaired when I first bought the car a year ago as it was tearing, and Nissan covered the fabric costs. (Which I realize the warranty doesn’t normally do) Right now I have a volume knob that doesn’t respond properly, and a nasty squeak above the passengers right side to have looked at.
The current warranty runs out Oct 31, 2015. I currently have the Platinum Package. Nissan quoted me the below. Do I take it or walk away? 2yr/20,000km Platinum ASP, $50 deductible. Premium Roadside and Rental Assistance included Full Comprehensive Nissan warranty (just excluding normal wear/tear) Full Powertrain Nissan warranty $1445+hst (this includes inspection). Thank you Z family. Any advice is great. |

Don't waste your money. I never will again.
Do you have the base level stereo? If so, I can hook you up with one from my '09. It's just taking up space in my house. Last edited by TreeSemdyZee; 05-08-2015 at 09:39 AM. |

That's a hell of a lot of money for only 2 years. I would tell them to

I wouldn't. The fact that every time I go to a Nissan dealership, the service department seems to be clueless. Recently they had no idea what my car was and no idea what a steering lock was and on another with my prior Z ended up cutting my rotors when that wasn't the issue with a noise in the brakes. I wouldn't buy it. I only take it there for warranty or recall issues and I cringe when doing so.

Get your niggles fixed before your warranty runs out then forget about it. These things seem pretty bulletproof.

I have thought about this as well. Is is a DD? If not i would pass on the warranty. I had an 09' for a long time (stock). Went on track days, long road trips and put a lot of miles on it. Not 1 problem. Although it was a coupe, the engine, drivetrain and the rest of the car were gold.
The only think you honestly need to worry about is the top. I have heard its like $10K to fix/replace it mechanically. I currently have a 2012 roadster as a weekend car. the top is always down to reduce the activity of the hydraulics and keep the fabric integrity strong for when i do need it up. I would take a look at how often you activate the top. If you do it as frequently as rolling the windows down you may want to consider it. If you use the top once or twice a week then you might be ok without a warranty. How far would you keep it past a another 2 years? If you plan on keeping it longer than that a 2 year warranty has little value. Murphy's law will cause any big issue after the extended warranty is over lol |
