Sports package
touring package with white leather interior and heated seats
technology package with Bose audio and navigation
front end of the car fully wrapped in clear 3m to protect paint

Check out the KBB, Autotrader, et al, sites.

According to KBB, a 2010 Sport/Touring + Nav with 24K miles and in good condition is worth about $23K in S AR. YMMV

I have traded a few cars in, and have yet to see a dealer jumping to give me KBB/NADA value

If I were in your shoes, OP, I would either walk in to that dealer expecting an insultingly low offer, or sell private. You might have a little more leverage if you bring cash/blank check to the table with the dealer. That, and they always leave wiggle room in the deals, in case you are a real tough negotiator.

Let u know what they offer, out of curiousity.

So from what i see on the forum and some research people are selling my set up at around 27-29k privately.

assuming dealer marks down by 20% so that they can sell and make money comes at around 22k?

i can negotiate the hell out of things (example going to homedepot and getting 50% off paint for my house cause it only covered half the square footage as it was advertised) probably cause i put down one THICK *SS coat. ;c)

Walking in with a blank check or letting someone know you plan to pay in cash can backfire. That represents a lost opportunity for them to finance.

Another thing I'd note is, unless your location changed, we're getting close to winter in the northeast. That will impact your trade value I would imagine.

Everything is negotiable, nothing wrong with aiming for some mix of the KBB/NADA trade in value. You say you're a good negotiator so...have it it and good luck! Forgive me for not having any otherwise insightful advice on trading your car in. I'll rely on someone else with more knowledge there to give you something with a bit more substance.

You won't get what you want, that's for sure. Based on my experience you'll get 22-24k depending on the dealer. i got 24k for my 2010 NISMO with 22k miles. Your best bet is trying carmax first. I tried a few dealers but carmax gave me the best offer. Most dealers wouldn't even take the car, saying that Z's didn't do well on their lots.

I didn't imply you tell them! But if the hard negotiating starts, then you might bring out some cash. You have to really know what you are walking in to when you negotiate. How much did they pay, what the market is like ATT, is it a specialty car, etc.

I could see them offering 20 even! they are just aiming for that lowly joe off the street who wants a new car and doesn't research. Don't be that guy, and you can get what you want!

Sell it privately if you can. Dealers will want to make 4 -6k profit off of a trade in so do the math and prepare to be insulted if you attempt to trade it in.

much appreciate all the insight from everyone. and apologies for posting in wrong section.

i just wanted to see what i should take on my Z that is reasonable without getting lowballed by dealers. of course they want to make money, and they should, that is how they do business. but at the same time i dont wanna be the guy they make 20%+ off of when they resell the car.

Didn't mean to imply that those sources/figures were the final word. Looking at the published wholesale, trade-in, retail, and private figures will give you a pretty good idea of what the market is like, what the dealer might make, &c but it's not Gospel.

Default my experience

My recent experience in December matches pretty well with what others have said. I had a 2011 touring/sport/auto with only 14,000 miles on it. KBB/True Car/et all said the car was probably worth $26,400 but I could not find a dealer to give me more than $25,000. I bought the new Z and the dealer put the car on the lot for $31,000. They then lowered it to $27,000 after a couple of months, then wholesaled it when they couldn't move it. I tried like crazy to sell it privately but didn't have much luck.

Good luck with your sale.
