Talking 2014 370z Base price opinions

As the title says, 31 miles, brand new, first owner. Got it for 28,990, 2.9% apr, $0 down, trade in 08 Civic LX. That is $1,000 less than the starting base price ($29,990) for the base model z. It came with floor mats, kick panel z, trunk mat, and the mud flap thingys. The dealer themselves were charging $35,000 for the car.

However, oweing $10k on the civic still, payments are $535, total of the Z was $32,xxx with extended warranty and gap. Obviously totaling $42k with the civic.

I got enough spending money without the extra $200 due to increase on the car payment. So, not a big deal.

Now, i could have waited and saved for the down payment and also paid off the Civic, but the deal on the car would've been gone.

Did I need the Z, no i could have been fine without it. Did I want the Z, yesssss, i am fine also with having it. Plus if large payments are such a big deal, i can refinance 2 years down the road if i ever come across any problems.

So all i'm just seeing, is your alls perspective of my decision, since i feel you all have the same interest in the car as i do. Whether good or bad you all are free to burn me or say whatever is on your mind.

Personally i feel good about the purchase. My first brand new car that will stink like me first, and its a bad azzzz car.

Plus, i got jipped on the civic lx. It was a very nice cruise gas saving car for me at the time and my financial status at the time. But i figured if i'm gonna be negative with a car, it might as well be a car i want for a verrryyyy lonnnggg time

Well figures. Each to their own i guess. I got the car for wholesale prixe so i only got $4,000 for the civic. So $42k - $4k. Forgot to mention that part. I'm in a Z whether you all like it or not

As long as you're happy with the deal. Enjoy the Z and keep it for a long, long time.

If you plan on keeping the Z for a while, great! Man, life is about enjoying things, not that ledger.

If the Z is an intermediate step for you...this is no bueno. My $43K MSRP 370Z was worth $26.8K private-party retail in 2 years after 35K miles.

Your $35K? MSRP 370Z will probably be worth around $20K in 2 years, and you will still owe in the low 30's on it. That's $10K (or more) upside down. Horrible financial decision on a vehicle with very bad residual.

So it depends on how you look at it...you would have "thrown away" $10K any way you sliced this apple, but now at least you're happy!

That's how I'd look at it, anyway.

Enjoy your purchase!

Nah. I wanted a brand new car. Not only that, this car will be with me until the engine dies or is totaled. I'm not looking for how much it will be worth in 2 years at all.

Thanks for the info, and glad for the support. It was bugging me, but i am settled on it as i was when i purchased it. Though you know how gossip affects you

I'm really confused, how did you owe $10K on the Civic LX and only get $4K for it? It's worth a bunch more than that!

I would have simply kept the Civic, poor financial decision, my friend. You should have asked us prior to following through with the sale. You saved $1K off MSRP, (which is pretty standard) but you lost that on your trade in.

When I purchased my Z, I told them that I'm not getting the car unless they give me a trade in value of the remaining balance on the loan. Then I bartered the price down from $42K MSRP to $39660, but with 3 years worth of free oil changes.

I am very jealous of your interest rate though, that's very low!

Well, if you look up trading in a vehicle thats what it is. If the sale price on the car from the dealership goes down, so does your trade in, if you want a lot more from your trade in, the price on the car you want is a little higher. People find it hard to get exactly what they want in a perfect trade in. Especially if you get the car at the price they got it for, like i did.

With that aside, the smart thing to do would be to sell my car privately, but i did not want to deal with that, it being my only car that is. The cars value at the time was $6,500 kbb. It had some cigarette holes and some dentssss so yeaahh. Too bad for them they didnt inspect the vehicle before trading it in but they still got the price down. The Civic ran smooth and i always kept it up to par. But its only a family fuel saving car, i did not want it forever.

That aside, i decided at the time, since i got screwed on the Civic, might as well be upside down on a car i like than a car i somewhat like, only cause it saves gas. I had also 5.75 apr on the civic.

Each to his own, i already knew bad opinions would come, so you know what. I'mma be ignorant and not give a crud on peoples opinions. Because I'm happy. I didn't buy the car or made the decision for anyone else but me. You know what i mean.

Thanks for your alls opinion for sure though, but this topic is done, no turning back otherwise.

Just sonething i would share if you all ever wondered what happened to your old vehicle.

I saw my Civic for sale on the used section of the dealerships website i went to (same color, year, and mileage) and they raised the price to $13,995. It was on their list for about 2 weeka and disappeared. I just checked once a week to see if it was still there

Don't know if the customer got it lowered or if they auctioned it off. But thats way overpriced from KBB. I did keep it clean besides the few flaws i left it in. No way in hell is it worth $14k though.

Yeah, i'm a weirdo like that i guess when it comes to cars
