The end of the Z34
I'm posting this here and not in the Z35 thread because this is for anyone still looking to buy a brand new Z34 in its final era of production.
Ok, so with the new model being at least a year away, what's happening in the meantime? Is Nissan going to stop production now of the Z34? Will there be a 2021 Z34 and then a 2022 Z35? Or will they just continue the 2020 model year into next late next year until the 2022 Z35 gets released? |

Which brings me back to the original point of this thread, with over a year to go, what is happening with the Z34 production in the meantime? |

If you want one, put down a deposit and you'll get one in around 90-days. Can't imagine it is much different in the USA. They may have built (or will build at some time early/mid next year) and stockpile the number that they reckon they can sell between now and the end on 2021 and will not build any more. |

I mean there are plenty of unsold Z34's floating around the world right now. The z34 370z was one of the worst selling performance cars from 2018-2019(20) lineup just behind the NSX. Probably worse for the 370z because they made significantly more.
From the gossip that is, it is assumed the z35 will carry on with the same FM platform for the Z35 as it did for the Q60. |

Looks like there will not be a 2021 370Z. Even Nissan's Proto website says 370Z (2009-2020) in their listing of each generation of the Z. That means 2020 is the end of the line unless they made a goof. Probably will stop making the Z34 before the end of the year if not already, and then the Tochigi factory would convert over to Z35. My understanding is that Z35 production was scheduled to begin in September 2021.

The Z35 beginning production in September 2021 will obviously be a 2022 model. You would think there is lots of time, from now until say May or June to be producing 2021 Z34s. |

In fact, as someone with a 2020 built 370Z, I hope they do stop making them this year as I'd love to have one of the last Z34s built, the end of an era. The less 370Zs around new, the better the exclusivity for existing owners. It's really not a problem if there is a year or so between when the last Z34s are produced and when the first Z35s go into production. That will give all the dealers around the world a decent chance to sell all remaining Z34 inventory, and build hype for the Z35. |

It would be interesting to see the VR30DDTT mated to a MT as a '21 Z34 farewell model but its only a dream.

The new car is just called Nissan Z and the chassis code is still Z34. That said, they say the chassis has been considerably reworked and there are a ton of sheetmetal changes and a new engine so I think most would consider it a new car and not a refresh of the 370Z.
