Thoughts on a 14 Sport package with 19k miles
So I'm looking at two Z's.
One is a 2014 19k miles w/Sport package 6mt with a 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty for right at 28k OTD. Car is clean and needs nothing. The other is a 2013 41k miles w/Sport+touring 6mt for 19+tax and fees so probably 22/23k OTD, NO warranty and the car needs some tlc... wrap removed, ricer wing removed and replaced with a factory, tires, a brake job, The carfax isn't clean either has a mileage discrepancy. Has some intake/exhaust mods I'm a little skeptical of but shouldn't be much more than bolt on stuff. Had a some rust on the exhaust since it was a new england car... Other than that seems mechanically sound when driving. I can work on my own stuff but I'm a bit 50/50. Mind is leaning toward the clean car that needs nothing.. Wallet is leaning toward the fixer upper. Sport package is the only option I care about. Touring is meh for me can always add that stuff if I want/need. Thoughts? go for the clean one, bumper to bumper warranty is nice (since a lot of things can void the power train warranty), and low miles.
you never want a car that's been modified too much because you never know what else might break soon. having a ricer wing or something also doesn't give me too much confidence about the previous driver |

I personally steer clear of any modded cars, i rather build it myself and have piece of mind. Clean title no tlc needed would worth the extra cash for me.

Go with the '14 Z. It sounds like a good deal, especially when you consider that nothing else is needed, it's clean and you have a B to B warranty. The '13 Z is more affordable OTD but will probably end up costing you more down the road.

It's almost always cheaper in the long run to buy the newer one with lower miles. Especially when the other one was riced out. The kind of owner who does that to their car usually cuts corners on maintenance and beats the hell out of the car.

none of the above, go under the for-sale section on here; ton of low mile cars for way cheaper/cleaner.
there is a 2010 40th with under 10k miles for a good deal, many cars with under 20k miles on here too. buying private > buying from a dealer (talking used), save thousands, know who the owner was, get a much cleaner car which was cared for by a fellow Z enthutiast - for all you know the dealer got their cars at the auction or the previous owner was DJ db clutch dropper. In personal experience when buying a performance car used - private sale is the better choice, so much more to list - but you get the point, if you are buying cash - go private. Don't buy into the whole 'oh if you buy from a dealer you get peace of mind', nope. Unless the car is under factory warranty the dealer will tell you to pound sand if something goes wrong. The only reason to buy from a dealer is for the ease of financing, and at that point you might as well buy new. Last edited by OnCallZ; 07-10-2017 at 10:59 AM. |

+1 on that. I toyed with the idea of getting another 370 for tracking/drifting, and there are better deals out there. Not sure where OP is located, but CraigsList (SoCal) has quite a few for around 20k or under with less than 30k miles on them, clean titles, and in excellent condition. Only potential downside is no warranty.
