Wax on Wax off

AGH! Black cars, gotta love them but the swirls were driving me CRAZY. I had the car Washed, Clay bar, light buffed, and waxed.

Most of the Swirls and light scuffs were removed (i didn't want a heavy Buff, i was too affraid of the cars already thin paint).

I don't really have a before and after picture but here is one picture showing the swirls:

Black is such a beautiful color but oh so high maintenance. I had a black 350 roadster and used the black wax to keep the swirls at bay. Good luck in keeping your sexy beast away from flaws

Looks great! Keep it swirl free by not touching the paint with anything at all until you wash it again. Only use clean microfiber wash mits and drying cloths when you wash and that swirl-free finish will last a while

I've been using the absorber towel to dry for years, but i may now get the waffle weave drying towel as i hear great things in drying using that.

lol'ed at absorber towels for high maintenance colors.

definitely get the blower and waffle weave and blot dry only. never drag your towel over the paint unless you are using spray wax or spray sealants to enhance the gloss at the very end. GL

The absorber picks up as much dirt and crud as it does water, and kindly grinds them into your paint as a courtesy. Id stay far away from that thing.

I have 1 big dry towel and several smaller detailer mf's... I use the big towel and lay it down, pick it up and lay it down... as if it's a giant stamp. I don't even bother pat it just let the wicking action work. Then use the detailer mf's to touch up the spots. If water spots appear / steaks / shoddy excuse for a dry work, I just lightly dampen the area or run a bit of water on and wipe away. If it's stubborn use a bit of QD. If it's a real problem (happened once) it's the towels leaving residue. I now use my drying towel twice (max) before tossing into the machine to clean out.

I have added a bunch of scuffs/swirls from my poor washing technique (lack of rinsing / lack of pre wash / lack of cleaning rag / 1 bucket method / working bottom up / amateur hour using my wheel cloth) but majority is in the rear hatch area. As Junkman would say, Technique > Product. Make sure you're using good technique during washing / paint handling and you will be able to avoid those swirls a lot longer!

A lot of the damage happened before and now the damage doesn't happen as noticeably as before!
