Show Car Transformation / Double Life
Believe it or not my car used to have a gold dragon on the side of it. No BS here, When Mishimoto first owned this Z they built it up in collaboration with Stillen & Drop Engineering and it looked like that.
After the car had seen its fair share of shows, was in a drag race in a movie (born to race), in a few magazines it was time for Mishimoto to remarket the Z. They changed up the aesthetics and off the car went to do another set of shows, magazines, ect. I guess two transformations was enough for Mishimoto because they sold it to me. When I first got the car I really didn't believe that, but then again it had multiple parts powder coated gold like in the magazine, the gold rims seen in the top photo and furthermore once I got under the car I saw evidence of where the gold wrap was not fully removed, and I did buy it from the owner of Mishimoto, why would he BS me! I am thinking they sold it because it was a work in progress. I mean it had brakes, boost, suspension, headers & exhaust, clutch, mishimoto cooling everything, and a cool paint job, so much more... But to be honest there was just a hodge lodge of stock / aftermarket parts that didn't match at all, it looked horrible, I bought it only because for me to buy all the above parts and have them installed on a used Z I would have easily been in for double what I paid. It took me one very long winter to further refine and modify everything to my high aesthetic standard, it took another $15,000 to get it to where you see it. Money well spent because I DIY all $15,000 of those parts and am hella proud that I can say I did everything myself & learned a lot along the way. Anyways, just thought id share this cool story with everyone.
