Jack points and pinch weld adapters
Hi All,
I'm getting ready to perform my first oil change on my 2016 Nismo and was wondering who here has the recommended pinch weld adapters depicted in the service manual? If not, what are you guys using? I have a lot of mechanical experience and I always lifted my unibody cars with the floor jack claw directly on the pinch weld. I didn't really worry about bending or scraping them. I don't want to do it that way with my Z. I plan to keep it as pristine as possible and therefore would like to either get (or make) adapters. I know that I can make some using hockey pucks but I'm just wondering what you guys use. I found these which look like they would work on our cars. Expensive but they look like quality pieces. NEW Mini Cooper Countryman Paceman Pinch Weld Floor Jack PAD Adapter 2010 | eBay Just not sure if they're the right size. Thoughts? Also, I just picked up the Nissan unicorn oil (ester) and OEM filter. Normally, I would not buy into the hype about how good it is but I just figured "if it aint broke, don't fix it". If this is what the factory fill was, then I'll stick to it..........for now...... By the way, my Z now has 4400 kms. Yes, I know that the recommended interval is every 8000 kms but, I'm bored and figure why not. Last edited by Cyber370; 08-10-2016 at 06:43 AM. |

I'm in Texas. We have no idea where to find a hockey puck.

Nothing special about those adapters - as per old guy, a hockey puck with a groove cut in it will work. The main thing is to get one that fits the shoe on your jack.

You cannot buy them new in Texas lol. But pretty much any sports store that sells/purchases used equipment will have them. I can always find them at Play It Again Sports - they cost $1.

Just as an update, the hockey pucks performed flawlessly. I used the orange (higher density) training pucks to make my adapters. I just cut a 1/4 in W X 1/2 in D slit in the center and they fit perfectly over the pinch weld lift points without any movement or deformation.

you dont lift by the side unless its emergency on the side of the road becus you dont carry your floor jack in your trunk otherwise you wudnt do it there either!! you are going to bend the sides by doing it!! use a floor jack and the jack points in the front and the back!!! dont do it!!!!

Yes they do... as I have to demonstrate this weekend. I'm overdue.

Rhino ramps. Quick and easy.
If this is your first oil change, you DO NOT have to remove the complete belly pan. Only the rear four bolts need to be removed and then you can bend that area forward to access the filter and drain plug. I use a bungy cord to hold the panel out of the way. The belly pan was designed to do this so not harm will be done.
