Some Z Owners...
I am not big on compaining, griping, ranting, b***ing etc etc. I recently purchased my 3rd Z, 09 Nismo. I had a MG 09 Base, sold it for a PW 10 Base. I really wanted a Nismo but the only stealership in Hawaii at the time told me it was going to be a 6 month wait. Anyway I sold the 2010 PW, well because I started a family and moved to Florida. Now that things are settled I found a good deal on a SR 09 Nis. The car was in ok shape, I got the front end clay bared, wet sanded polished, clay bared the rest of the car polish and waxed as well. Came out great. I steamed cleaned the cloth interior, I tried my best to clean this filthy motor. I am now changing the oil.
Here is where I get pissed. The previous owner or stealership did not use a drain plug gasket, used cheap oil, and the cheapest oil filter possible. How do I know because the oil went from nice clear yellow tinted like to almost black in 2 weeks! I drive hard. But only used a half of tank a gas since owning it. Anyway I am putting FS MB1, with Purolator Filter, Mag Drain Plug, and Filter Mag. I do this on all my cars. Considering changing all of the other fluids while I am at it as well as the spark plugs. 60K miles Sorry I just needed to vent, and hope that people would appreciate their Z's more and take better care of them. Now this baby is in my hands and she will have a lot of abuse, but TLC at the same time, not just abuse. I try to make everything I have last forever, I still have my original NES with the box, games and etc etc like new. That's how OCD I am. |

Definitely the dealer. They probably changed the oil during their inspection process after taking the trade.

Most dealers don't even change the oil, their philosophy is "spend as little as you can on the car, resell for the highest price to maximize profits"
Even being Nissan, don't expect them to have done anything the car other than washing it, they give you the stupid story about their 1 million point inspection, it's all BS. My guess is Nissan/The dealership did not change the oil, heck if I were you change the oil once, drive it a week and change it again |

I lost the box.
I like a nice car, but taking it to the track has left it full of black tire streak marks all over. Drought has made it tougher to wash regularly.

Most oils will go black after about a couple hundres miles. It's the additives in them that do it.

Oil goes black from soot...normal byproduct of combustion. Modern oils have better detergents than a decade ago. The black oil is the detergent doing its job. Black oil does not necessarily mean that the oil needs to be changed.

This is why I bought mine brand new. Nothing but synthetic every 4k miles and all service done at the dealership.

I agree brand new is the way to go, especially if you want to make sure she has not been with anybody else LoL. I am also not a big fan of the new body style of the 370 Nismo, front end seems like a bit overkill IMHO. Maybe I have to see it in person to really make that judgement. |
