2009 Touring
so I found a 2009 touring with 28k miles on it
My questions will be silly... silly i say silly. 1:is it still under factory warranty? 2: is there a oil burning /drinking problem with this year model? 3: is the tranny bad in this year model? it will be a daily driver .. driving it 60 miles a day rain snow and shine.. I just wanna make sure it will be reliable. |

It will be fine I've had mine 5 years (original owner). Besides CSC which can happen to every year no issues. I've had my car in Germany, El Paso and now Maryland. I DD it 47,000 miles.

I'd buy it if the price is right and the CarFax is good.
right price+clean CarFax = fun So... nobody has really answered your questions. 1. Not likely, factory warrenty dies at 3 yrs 30,000 miles and 5 years 50,000 for drivetrain. 2. The oil consumption thing carried across several years as I recall, it was not year specific. 3. I don't recall their being any transmission problems. Clutch slave cylinder is a different story however. Following is a link to some one click searchs that have links for oil consumption and clutch slave cylinder issues. One Click Searches

1. Factory warranty is 3year/36k bumper to bumber and 5year/60k on the drivetrain. It is def out of bumper to bumper and probably near the end of the drivetrain warranty based on the model year. You can look to see if it is offered with Nissan's extended warranty as well. The dealer I purchased my Z from threw in a 5 year extended bumper to bumper warranty for no charge.
2. No oil burning/drinking problem that I've come across in all my research. Just be sure to keep an eye on your oil level like any other sports car you'd drive. 3. Like others have said the CSC seems to be a problem with all model years using the 6MT so you might have to deal with it regardless of what year you purchase. I'm not sure what your budget is but I just picked up a 2012, sports package, only 10k on the clock. With winter approaching, dealers will be looking to move these types of cars so keep an eye out and you might be able to get more for your buck than you thought you were going to get. 60miles a day in snow would be better met with an awd machine... fwd at least. yes doable in a rwd with LM60's but not sure i want to be doing 60miles every frikken day.

No, but it may have a transferable extended warranty.

The 7AT seems to be very reliable and the main problem with the 6MT seems to be the CSC. So far, the 370Z appears to be very reliable. Like all vehicles, it has a few quirks - oil consumption and CSC problems are the worst but oil consumption is not all that common and the CSC problem can be fixed. For the 2009-2010s, the ESCL is a problem but it is easy to disable. Spend some time browsing the technical sections for problem reports. If it can go wrong, someone has probably posted about it. I recently got rid of my 2009 Touring that I had very few problems with and they were minor (rear hatch not opening properly, rattle in left window, blemishes on wheels, &c - all fixed under warranty). Great car, I just couldn't find a competent shop in my area. If a decent Nissan shop opens up around here, I may get another one. FWIW, CarFax, et al, are not always accurate. When I went to sell my Z, the maintenance showed up but nothing about the wreck. Yes, I told the buyer about the wreck - I lost about $500 on the deal but slept well that night.

Had mine for over 3 years now.
Had the hatch problem fixed under warranty. Had the Steering Wheel Lock issue fixed under warranty. Once I switched to Synthetic oil, no longer had any issues with oil consumption. Plan on keeping mine for a long time, but driving in snow is tricky, especially when the snow gets deep (car will plow). May want to look at a beater to drive in the snow. |
