Seatbelt & airbag warning lights after Dynamat install
I just picked my Z up from the local audio shop after having Dynamat installed.
The good news: on my 12-mile drive home, it sounded much improved. I think I am going to be very happy with it. The bad news: after I got close to home I noticed that the seatbelt warning light in the tach was flashing and that the passenger airbag warning light near the glove box was illuminated. But both windows appear to function properly. I searched this forum and found several threads about resetting the airbag light if it is flashing. Mine does not flash; it just comes on and stays on. I was going to try the re-set procedure anyway, but it is difficult since the first step is to wait for the first time it flashes I found only one thread about that seatbelt light flashing which suggested that it was probably not connected properly. I strongly suspect that the wires were not properly reconnected, but I have no idea where to check and probably could not do that (yeah, I know) even if I did. Is this likely the source of both issues, or is there something else I should check out prior to going back to the audio shop Monday morning? |

I had the airbag flashing after my audio install but did the reset procedure and got it to reset. With a constant light, I think you're correct assuming the it was not reconnected. I'd head back to the audio shop and make them fix it. What a hassle. Also, regarding sound proofing, I installed GT mat in the doors and hatch and mine is way better too. Glad to hear you're happy with the sound proofing. It does make for a much more civilized ride.

Responding here in case anyone stumbles onto this thread searching for the same issue.
I went back to the audio shop today and was pleasantly surprised when the guy came back in 15 minutes, said he did an airbag reset procedure and voila'. He had paid no attention to whether the flashing seatbelt light in the tach had been fixed at the same time, but when we checked, it had. I didn't ask what reset procedure he performed, but it must be some airbag reset procedure that I couldn't find in my search here since the only one I could find was for a flashing light while mine was a continual light. And it must be fairly standard either for Z's or for some other models as he acted like it was fairly routine. Edit: Incidentally, the Dynamatting makes a noticeable difference. I no longer have to constantly fiddle with the radio volume as my speed or road conditions change. I can also hear my (stock) exhaust much better. Now I'm at least not worried that upgrading my audio system will be a waste of money due to excessive road noise. Last edited by Fuzzzy; 09-15-2014 at 12:04 PM. |
