2 Nissans, both AC broke
2010 Nissan 370z Roadster Touring
2010 Nissan Altima SE The AC died within the same month. I rarely use it. I took in the Z, and they said a small stone hit the condenser, and it has to be replaced. The consensor is part of the radiator, so I have to replace the whole thing. That, or just AC. $1400. RIP OFF. Thoughts? The charged me $150 to check it out. Now I have to take the Altima in and do the same thing. |

I mean its not a cheap thing but i suggest taking it to a different couple places to see what they say and nego with each one, go around and around until the first place you go to does it for much cheaper.

Personally, I'd buy an upgraded radiator/AC condenser (Z1 sells them), and have an independent mechanic install it.
BTW, $150 for a diagnosis from a dealership is very reasonable (essentially 1 hour of a mechanic's time). If this seems steep, then do not under any circumstances buy a German car. |

Wanker. Our cars are japanese............
Dealer ripped you off if he told you it was German. Good thing we drive beamers. Also $150 for an hour of labor is OD. Anywhere from 50-90 is reasonable for me.

You may want to get a second opinion on that.
AC condensers get hit by small stones all the time, that's just part of the risk of beings mounted where they are. Typically it just bends a few fins; it sucks but it usually doesn't kill it. Unless that one small stone hit some catastrophic failure point, which would mean that you were doomed anyway, I don't see how it could be the cause. You could always take it to an AC certified repair shop. I'm sure they could tell you what the deal is most likely to be.

Since you live in IL. then take it to Project X in Schaumburg for install, Project X Customs | Project X Customs. CSF is a much higher quality radiator than OEM, and Project X specializes in Z's.........They are a great group and have reasonable Labor cost per hour. Not to mention high quality install.

Yep, I so need to put a mesh on my bumper to prevent this. Anyone have solutions that are easy and simple to install? |
