Does anyone know if adding cat backs will void the manufacture's warranty and/or extended warranty?

No. After market parts only void the Nissan express warranty, if the part was improperly installed and/or caused the repair issue. With a CBE, I wouldn't sweat it. Remember the Nismo is essentially a stock 370z with a better exhaust (and body kit and suspension).

I'm 100% trolling. I don't know why people can't google this question...

Would void your exhaust warranty and motor if it blows. Nissan will blame whatever is on the chain to avoid w claims.

Mods will not void your entire warranty but they may void the warranty for specific parts if it can be shown that your mods caused the problem. Eg, a turbocharger will not void the warranty on the BCM but it will probably affect the engine warranty. A properly installed CBE shouldn't be a problem but it could be.

Actually I heard the next time you go in for service, the techs will re-install the OEM system and hold your aftermarket one as collateral until the warranty expires.

There is a law, the Magnuson-Moss Act, that basically says that the manufacturer cannot totally void a warranty because the owner has made a modification. They can void any part of the warranty that is affected by the modification though. In court they would have to prove your modification caused the failure.

I just traded the Z for a new Murano and they more or less implied that my warranty would be void if I didn't get my scheduled maintenance done at the dealership. They explicitly said that a Nissan oil filter had to be used or the engine warranty would be void. They gave an example of someone being denied a warranty claim because the Fram filter they installed blew up and claim was denied (oh my, the sh!t they come up with). Too bad some folks would believe this and not do their own maintenance. Anyway, I will continue to do my own maintenance and will welcome them to join me in small claims court should warranty ever be denied.

A warranty will most likely never be voided. A warranty claim can be denied. There's a huge difference. As others have said, it must be shown that the mod was responsible for the failure. And unless the manufacturer is willing to provide you with filters and fluids free of charge, the warranty claim cannot be denied based on the use of other fluids that fit factory specs provided that appropriate service intervals are maintaned.
