Nissan 370Z Forum

Has anyone tried OEM paint your own Z?

since bodyshops do crappy jobs or atleast its hard to find a place that does a real good job and also affordable. Was wondering if anyone has attempted to paint

It's not hard finding a good body shop. Just gotta listen to other members' experience.

I would and have painted small parts that are replaceable but not the body

small pieces ok, but painting a car yourself is not like taking a spray can to a wall. not anything i woud suggest you try yourself if you have never done anything like this before and if you have, got access to the right equipment and facilities to do this.

yah, problem with rattle cans is its pressure dropping as you spray.

would definitely need an airbrush and compressor to do large pieces.

Paintng a car worth a damn is a far bigger undertaking than you're giving it credit for. You're far better off asking local guys for a good body shop, and then taking their recommendation.

Prepping correctly is the hardest and time consuming part. Spraying is actually fairly easy with the correct equipment.
