Default Swapped HID bulbs, ballast turns on then off.

I've had PLENTY of HIDs in the past 13 years from back when I paid $650 for my first kit. DDM, eBay, you name it. Now I installed the 6000k bulbs and the ballast quickly shut off. I clipped it in correctly, everything is right. Pulled out, tried the other bulb. Same thing. Back to stock and everything is fine. Is this a Nissan problem?

yep, it's a known issue that the Z doesn't like aftermarket bulbs much. Lots of threads about this, actually.

Try the JWM ones, they seem better.

Well damn. The search function on these vbb forums is not very good so sometimes you can get a quicker answer by asking. Sorry.

Anyway, do you know of any other places selling hid bulbs that'll work on our cars? That link only has 5000K right now.

It's funny that the same thing JUST happened to me and my buddy. We both installed xb 6k HIDs with stock ballast. My driver side tried to turn on but failed. My buddy's passenger side comes on late than the driver side. And besides us, I heard others have this issue too.

I am going to get JWMotoring bulbs next because one of my buddy got them and doesn't have any issue with them. And I read that entire sale thread, all happy customers. $35 plus 2 year warranty why not!

I have had my JWMotoring bulbs for over 2 years and I have had no issues. This is very crazy as I never new that there were issues with any aftermarket bulbs as long as the matched the power levels of the ballast.

Give JW a shot.

it is easier to go to google and type in what you want and put 370Z at the beginning or end and it 9 out of 10 times links right to the correct topic here.

If you want better bulbs you'll have to stick with one of the OEM manufacturers like Phillips or Osram. The ballasts in our cars do not like to ignite aftermarket bulbs, and no aftermarket bulbs have been proven to work 100%.

I have the Osram Xenarc CBI bulbs, they are absolutely the best D2S bulbs on the market, but they're not cheap: D2S: Osram Xenarc 66240 CBI - HID Bulbs - Components

Forum search tools stink. Use Google instead. In the search bar type the following:

site:the370z.com words words words

This doesn't only work for forums, but any website you want to search. It works MUCH better than the forum search tool.
