Go ahead and clutch dump at about 6K RPM in 1st. Then redline every gear after that.
Good luck in an AT

hahaha gold.
its people like you that make all us asians look bad. to answer your question: theres no 100% set RPM for anything. driving a manual is a lot to do with how it feels. just drive it a bit and you'll get the hang of it. just be gentle with the clutch and you'll find it soon. of course there are a couple common sense ... "tricks" i guess you could call them. 1) don't redline for no reason 2) don't ride the clutch (that means don't always have it pressed in unless required) good luck on what i assume is your first manual car

It takes time and practice. The more you get used to it, the smoother it will be because eventually you will find the sweet spot of the gas and clutch together to make it not jerk or ride the clutch too much.
Simple easy first step to learn on driving manual is to not press the gas and release the clutch while in 1st gear super super slow and steady until you start to feel the car move and remember that postion of your foot on the pedal. (you can actually drive the car with out even pressing the gas, Just smooth clutch depressing.) That teaches you how much you have to depress the clutch pedal in order for the car to move. Next time you do it add a tiny bit of smooth motion pressing the gas pedal. Just one of many different ways to get better. Last edited by Awwthentic; 03-15-2014 at 08:16 PM. |

To start from neutral to 1st, You want between 700-1500rpm depending where you are driving. 1000-1200 seems to work for me. 1st to 2nd will be smoothest if you shift between 2400-3000rpms. Once you get good, any rpm will be smooth. It's really up to the driver.

Oh to stay on topic: OP it's a good thing that you have a Nismo and clearly stated that in your thread title as shifting in a Nismo is completely different than the other 370Z variants out there and nothing close to any other vehicles out there. So start off with giving your Nismo zero gas and dumping the clutch. Feel where it grabbed? Next, hammer down on the gas and dump the clutch...see where it grabbed? Now find a happy medium or find a nice girl to teach you how to drive a stick. |
