Default Possible steering wheel lock failure

Went out to my Z this morning, and it won't even attempt to start. Headlights and break lights are working, I even tried jumping it. Inserted the fob, and it still won't get past the 'Lock' light. To make things even worse, my warranty just expired this year. Any chance Nissan might cover it because this is such a wide known issue?

Nice! So that means they should technically cover it right?

Nissan issued a TSB and should fix it for free. Contact your dealer.

Ok, I'm going to have a mechanic friend take a look at it first to make sure it's nothing else. Don't want to have Nissan tow it and tell me it was not the steering wheel lock. Glad I don't have to dish out $500+ though.

Tow truck is on the way, everything is covered. Sucks that this had to happen while on vacation, but at least I won't have to worry about it in the future.

This is a one time fix right? Or is it something that repeatedly breaks? I read it only affects the 2009 and 2010 models, so I figured I should be good after I get it fixed.

Yes dealership will fix it free of charge. I bought mine and the first thing they did after inspection was check to see if it had been fixed. Nope. Offered right then and there. They made sure to remind me that it was 100% free. Great dealership actually. Even if they do fix it, even the newer revisions could go. Some recommend pulling the fuse. I like to live dangerously! I'm honestly more worried about the CSC. Now that is $$$

There have been failures reported for all revisions of the ESCL. I suggest pulling the fuse. You can find links to FYIs at the SLU link in my sig.

100% free for you but dealership gets paid from manufacture, so now you know why they insist to get it fixed.. LOL
