Default Fuel capacity/tankful miles

I am sure its been discussed a zillion times but I am not able to use the search function so I will ask anyway. The fuel indicator is still above half tank and I have driven about 240 miles at 24.6 mpg!

How many gallons does our tank hold? At half tank on the indicator, how many gallons are actually left?

What is the most anyone has driven before filling up?

The gas gauge, and fuel in general, are quite the topic on this forum. Get ready for a lot of annoying replies...

Just filled up for 18.3 gallons yesterday, but don't expect to get more than 350 a tank.

The "official" tank size is 19 gallons.
The dot gauge is known to be a bit faulty now & again, meaning it will sit in the upper area and then all of a sudden drop quickly. In terms of an actual range it depends on how you drive, if you are getting 24MPG then you can probably go 400+ miles before getting near the bottom of the tank.

I found a thread that had some guys trying to get 500 miles off a full tank (lots got about 430+) and most claiming the tank holds 19+ gallons. One does admit that its a boring way to drive and another claims that you could hit close to 500 miles per tankful if you drove under 2300 rpm the whote time and on level roads.

Default Miles

I recently finished a 3000 mile road trip. I was at 440 & 450 miles, with 2 gal left in the tank. 26 mpg, 27 once. So if you want to be sittin on the side of the road sayin " I GOT 500 MILES !"
Go for it.

In a couple weeks we're going to see OP posting his first, "car died during right hand turn with 5 dots left," thread.

The consensus is this will vary between cars, sometimes significantly. I don't think there is a happy medium here.

I filled up the other day, 15~ gallons, had 350 miles already clocked in (I reset at the pump every fill-up), had three dots left, range light warning had not yet come on (which usually occurs somewhere driving with only three dots remaining)

Basically, just learn the car you drive is the easiest answer to this one.

What's your average MPG for your 370z?

I have gotten 475+ multiple times when I drive to Orange County from Scottsdale - 26-30mpg highway
