Stick vs paddle shift
Hey I'm really curious if stick shift is faster than paddle shift ?
My friend told me his g35 can beat my 370z if I race him in the highway starting speed at 40mph just cuz he has stick and I have paddle shift is that true ? But he told me my car is faster if I race him starting at 0 ... Im just curious if I wanted to race a 370 just like mine but the opponent has stick shift would he be faster than me If I'm using paddle shift ?Or I would win ?

Unless you SUCK at driving, you will be faster all the time, the G35 weighs more and has less power. I think his logic is... At 40, he'll be in 2nd, and if you suck at driving, and you're "racing" in D, your car will be in 6th, and there will be a delay shifting down... In which, yes, you suck at driving, and he will win.
Now this is a MORONIC test to run because it's like comparing apples to cows, yeah, you can eat both, but that's where the similarities end. There are too many factors that will sway the outcome. At the end of the day, the breakdown, in a straight line, stock for stock SHOULD be 370 7AT, 370 6MT, G37 7AT, 350Z (not sure how their AT/MT stack up) then the G35, and god forbid your friend has a DE G35, tell him to jump off a cliff

370z auto is a lot faster than people think. You have to have time n both to really know. People who don't understand how to use the paddles automatically think the shifters are some type placebo.... The paddles shift fast and stillen ground wires help a little more for increased electronic response.
Just remember.. no street racing though. Don't let Ur friend suck u in.

I got a lot of backlash from friends and relatives when I got the 7AT instead of the 6MT. I had to be patient since the emergence of faster automatic transmissions was new for the masses. At a certain point I would just smile and say in a sarcastic tone,"what was I thinking, yes your Type-R/Si/GT/SHO is probably faster." Then I give them a ride with only a taste of what my Fairlady can do and watch them either keep lying to themselves or fess up that they now understand.

That's the only way the auto skip shifts really, while in a manual, if you were in 5th going 40, you can skip to second quicker than you can with the auto in M-mode. Now that I reread your question, and I realize my answer doesn't have a damn thing to do with your question... If I KNOW I am going to drive aggressively, and I'm driving in M-mode, I will take it to the line
