Default NISMO block replacement

On my birthday last Thursday I was running around as normal in my 2010 NISMO. I headed to the supermarket towards the end of the day, and on the way I heard a slight clicking when accelerating. I didn't think too much of it, but when I parked I rolled down the window and reved it a couple times but I couldn't reproduce it.

On the short return trip back home I turned onto the street next to my condo complex and heard the clicking much louder which was concerning. At the last light before home the clicking turned into a loud clapping, which at that point I coasted home. I called up my Nissan dealership and let them know that I was going to have it towed in the next morning.

This morning the service manager called me letting me know that they will be replacing the block which is fully covered under my warranty. He said that my vehicle falls under the parameters of a service bulletin and I perform all my recommended services.

Kinda bummed that I have to drive a rental car on the weekend since this is my daily driver...but this is a first-world problem.

When I find out more specifics I will share them.

How many miles on the car?

Did you drive it hard? track days, autocross?

It is my daily driver, so I have 44k miles on it and I do tend to get up to speed quickly and take corners as fast as I can (especially since I put some Michelin Super Sports on it). One thing I should mention is that it drinks oil like there is no tomorrow. I get my oil changed every 4500 miles, but I usually need to bring it in to the dealership for them to top it off, or I will do it myself even in between changes. About two weeks ago I added a quart, but the dealership said it was low again.

I don't track it.

From your post, it sounds like you had some fairly significant oil consumption and the clicking/clapping was a rod knocking because a bearing went dry. Good thing the warranty took care of you. That would have been an expensive issue if it came out of your wallet.

This reminds me that I also wanted to ask something. So I will just use this thread to elaborate

I've been noticing that after running for a while (20+miles) and oil temp exceeds 200F, there would be clicking/clapping sound while the engine is running and car is idle. The sound was kind of from the engine bay (also sounded like from the driver side). If I let it cool down, the sound will go away but it concerns me a little. Anyone know if this is a problem?

Noises are hard to diagnose over the internet. Your best bet would be to start a thread in the technical area with a video.
