First mod help
The way I intend of going is a HFC and cat back exhaust with an intake . What type of intake would be better for a stock 09 touring 370z 7at. Do long tube air intakes have better gains then the short ram and what not . And of course a tune to top it all off . Anyone know of good setups ups and sites to buy parts for decent price . Thanks

There are much more experienced guys around here than me, but unless you go long tube, the CAI is not very effective. Drop in filters are just about as good as short tube CAI. High flow cats and CBE will provide much better bang for your buck for gains and sound enhancement.
I would also consider an oil cooler (especially on an 09)if you drive at all like the Z wants to be driven. Z1 motorsports here: Z1 Motorsports 370Z/G37 Division is a good place to source parts.

Yes CAI gives better gains than SRI's. 'Long tubes' are cold air intakes, and the two best ones (strictly personal opinion on this one) are the stillen gen 3s and the AEM ones. I personally have the AEM and love it Short ram intakes gives less power and is more prone to heat soak, but it is easier to install and to maintain the air filters. There is no such thing as a short tube CAI.
I have an 09 as well and I drive my Z fairly hard. Not being on track, but hours of mountain roads driving hard without an oil cooler has been fine for me. Oil temp hasn't surpassed 230F yet. Unless you're tracking the car or live in a hot area, I wouldn't say that you need an oil cooler immediately as one of your first mods. IMO get a tune after you're done all your bolt ons. CBE wise, Fast Intentions and Motordyne are the most well known for the 370z's. There's an exhaust thread sticky somewhere that was made solely for exhaust notes on youtube videos on this forum somewhere, you should definitely check it out. Just because those two brands are considered to be the crowd favorite doesn't mean that the other brands aren't good either though! I personally have Invidia and love it All in all, there's a ton of information on this forum. Doing some research would be great before pulling any triggers

If I decide to go with cold air intake will I be losing power since the only other mod would be High flow cat. I can rule out short rams. do k&n drop in filter do anything what could honestly be different from stock filters. What's the difference between test pipes and HFC , are they simple to install are there any major modifications to install. Will my stock exhaust hold up well

Once I'm out of school ill head towards a tt or supercharge , how we'll would my auto trans do or should I see if they can just swap for a maunl. I really appriacte the help you guys are awesome .

In my honest opinion I don't think you'll feel much except for maybe slightly better throttle response (?) from the intake alone. HFC or test pipes will give you some pretty good gains though. Don't bother with K&N drop in filters if you're getting an intake. Test pipes are just plain pipes that replace the stock cat. If you get resonated test pipes, they are just plain pipes with a resonator on it more or less. HFC is a high flow cat, it is still a catalytic converter but redesigned to have better flows.
HFC = you still have a cat Test pipes = don't have a cat Test pipes make better gains though, and sound different. I tend to think that HFC sounds slightly more raspy. If you live in a place where emissions isn't a problem, I would go test pipes. HFC's tend to break very easily as well over time too. They are simple to install but it's not something I would recommend you to do alone. It's just a few bolts, but the 2 connecting the cat to the headers are a huge pain to get to. Stock exhaust will be fine, but it will most likely sound raspy and possibly like crap with a HFC/test pipe lol. No modifications needed for cat replacements or intakes, all simple bolt on mods.

Oil coolers as first mods for the pre factory ( and post) is arguably the best first choice.
If you drive it hard...like you should...you will be disappointed the first time that limp mode kicks in because of it.
