Default Reprgamming key fob???

Long story short my house was broken into a couple weeks ago and among the many things they took was the lock box that contained the spare key to my car. Was planning to take my car in to have my key fob reprogrammed but was wondering if anyone knew the sequence so I could just do it myself. Honestly I don't mind paying the $110 they charge to do it. It's more the hassle of having to take it in and wait for it. That and I'm always leery of turning over my keys to someone else.

I found several articles but non-of them seem to be for the newer push to start key fobs.

I think only the dealer can reprogram the i-keys for you. If you need another spare, you may be able to find one fairly cheap on the forum here, but you will still have to pay the dealer to program it for you.

I would also have the dealer delete any existing keys before programming your new one. If they stole your spare key then they may come back and steal your Z later.

this is from the frontier forum, people use it when switching to Rogue keys, but its probably the same for the Z too.

That procedure only works for the keyed ignition. Will not work for intelligent key systems.

You will need to visit your dealer or your local locksmith to have your remote programmed to your car using diagnostic equipment.

A locksmith is less expensive...

All keys have to be programmed at once so this wont be an issue. If you still have a warranty, you can try and sweet talk them to program it for free. Sux though that they charge an hours work for something that takes literally 5min.

Keep in mind that you are not only paying for the time it takes someone to make the change. You are also paying for use of a fairly expensive piece of diagnostic equipment, garage space, &c. But, yeah, it seems like about half (maybe three-quarters of) an hour would be fair to both parties for a 5-10 minute job.
