Default CHEAP OBD II Tool that works on 2009 370z??

Hi,

I've read the posts on the forum about OBDII tools that are the "best" - i.e., expensive. I just need one to tell me why my check engine light is on. Simple and cheap. I bought an Autel that was $30 on Amazon, and it's apparently too old to read the codes of my car. That's what the company told me! Any idea which model - Autel or otherwise - actually works and isn't more than about $30-40?

I used to use this model

ActronŽ

Is your ECU US spec? If sol, this should work fine. You'll have to look up the meaning of the DTC code tho'.

$24

Tons of functionality when paired with Toque (a free app)

I've had the small Actron PocketScan for years and still works fine for the Z. It was about $50.
Jordo! and Jasonle like this.

Actron PocketScan does the trick. Pretty cheap too.

Sorry to thread jack, but does anyone know of a good app on iphone that works well with any of the OBDII readers? More specifically the one similar to what TAKJAK posted?
