Dead Battery or Steering Lock ?
Hey Guys and Gals..
I have my 2009 370Z with an Original Battery and new key fob batteries.. The Car won't start, the doors don't lock or unlock and the Lights don't work.. I think it is just the battery and next week I am going to replace it.. My Question is when you have Steering Lock Failure, do the Lights and other things work ? Oh and when I put it on the Battery Charger, making sure the cables were on the proper posts, the charger meter pulsated and the gauges pulsated along with the hazard Lights...I have never seen that in my life....I shut i9t off right away... Any thoughts ? I do have an extended Warranty if it is the Steering Lock, but I think the Battery is dead..But I cannot charge it because of the wierd thing that happens when I put the charger on...Anyone ever experience this ? Mike

Been sitting a while and the Battery is 4 and a half years old...
The pulsing when I charged it was strange... Yes everything is dead...

Battery, get a new one and see what happens, don't worry about the pulsing until you get a new battery

For sure the Charger was not going to help..I almost changed it a few months ago just because it is the original one...Well now I have to anyways... Thanks for the info on the Steering Lock...I am going to ask the dealer about my car....If I am covered, I am going to get my fixed for free....

in this case, i would disconnect the battery from the car, then try charging your battery separately.
i'd use 2A and normal charge mode and see wat happens for 30min. if it appears your battery is taking the charge, then give it the higher amp quick charge if you want to try that. |

if your car sits for awhile I would invest in a battery tender... those things are the best! I bought 2 for both my cars

yep, especially if you're like me that likes to work on car stereos or something while the car is hibernating. no need to worry about drain cause the tender will charge and float on it own.

Mr. Bucket, just an FYI on the steering lock: even if you take it to the dealer to replace it under warranty, they will be replacing it with a revision that is still prone to failure. Removing the fuse is the best way to go

while i was working on hooking up my mic for my HU over the weekend, i took a quick peek at the steering lock harness brown wire.
i thinks it is easier to just snip it. |

but I'm OCD and being able to put it back to stock is what I like about the fuse removal... not that you would ever want to put the fuse back in :mytwocrazycents:
