Default 2013 ConsumerReports Buyers Guide

First, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! So I been visiting with family most of the day and came across the consumer reports for 2013. Now the basic results have been typical of most of the reviews on our cars but what's intresting is how the results stack up comparable cars. I'm not really sure why the reports continue to bash the 370z when it's very comparable to other cars in its class. I know this is widely been discussed on here but are they really that bad of a car?

Yes i copied of one of the members DIY pics when he was explaining how to change your clutch, at that time it was known that CQC was the 1 st things to go on our trannie so i desided for it to be my avatar, and no i havent change mine. Came close though, a friend talked me out of it he sad "why change it when it still works" so 17k miles later in stop n go traffic, red lights, unexpected stops.....blah..blah...blah...damn thing is still going strong(i dont ride the clutch, but i clutch ALOT) sometimes i think am stuk with it for a wile.

But predicted reliability is the worst...

I can't really blame them though, they tested a manual... I don't know anyone who HASN'T gotten a clutch slave cylinder replaced, LOL... And if you're out of warranty, you'll be paying a pretty penny...

I've now seen a bunch of cars flat bedded away from the track, and I have yet to see a Z upon one. Of course they (flat bedded) all had manuals too. Do you suppose manuals at the track break down more? Or are there fewer automatics at the track?

Owner satisfaction...N/A , that should tell you how good this report is when they didnt bother to ask a owner what they though about the car.

No clue what that has to do with anything really... You're saying the cars were flat bedded off the track because they broke down due to the manual gearboxes???
Manuals don't really fail unless you suck at driving, the clutch is there to help you if you suck too... The issue is more the clutch master, but mainly slave cylinder on OUR manual transmissions

And hell yeah, there are probably 10 times more manual cars pounding round a track than autos, unless they're supercars, then it's probably less than 50/50 with all the DSG gearboxes and paddle operated cars

The Z has been the most reliable, problem-free car I've ever owned. And mine gets a real workout every summer. This just proves that Consumer Reports is a bad source of buyer information.

Very true.

42k miles and only replaced tires.... Reliability is great here.

Definitely NOT my most reliable car... The '01 Toyota Avalon I have gets more of a beating, and only gets oil changes, the ISF has only had oil changes and break changes, and the other Lexus barely gets oil changes, lol, I do them when I go home to change my mom's oil, granted Mobil 1 just because she doesn't pay attention that the car tells her "maintenance req'd" LOL

Although my Maxima was WAYYYY worse (RIP)

My car is going in for trranny having hard shifts soon... YAYYYYY!!! Free rental!!! LOL

No. It was an attempt at humor. You said they reviewed a manual, and it was unreliable, and of course folks that take their driving serious enough to track cars, tend to shift for themselves.

Have a great weekend.

Just make sure you keep your gas tank semi full, else don't attempt to make right turns or it will leave you stranded.
