s-mode
A person that I know of who also drives 370z w/ sports package told me that he can tell the difference with S-mode on when he UP-shift.
I know that S-mode helps when DOWN-shifting, but is he true by any chance? Also, does S-mode on consume more gas or battery? Last edited by sojirovskensi; 12-16-2010 at 02:17 AM. |

well it's a little different from what you're saying, i haven't tried upshifting with 's' mode off but... what is the deal with this car, i noticed that the RPM's drop verrrry slowly when upshifting, and if i want to have a little fun with the car (never close to red line, just want to shift a little faster than normal) it like, jerks kinda..i never really knew what it was and never had any of this in previous cars i've owned..so i actually took the time to figure it out. i would go to about 4500 rpm(doesnt really matter what rpm, just don't like to beat on my cars lol) and try to shift somewhat fast (not slamming the gears, don't misread what i'm typing) and i would notice by the time i put into higher gear and let go of clutch, the rpm's would be to high, meaning haven't dropped enough, and the car would jerk a little bit..what's the deal??? if i go and shift, it's like i have to wait for the rpm's to drop and stay if i want it to be smooth. also p.s. does this have anything to do with the flywheel?? meaning the speed in revving up/down?? |

hmm, so it's not really just me...but i mean, say when people are racing(not street racing, i mean any real racing requiring to shift fast) how do they do it?? i'm not patting my self on the shoulder here, im really not...i'm an amazing driver, in a general sense, and great at driving a standard..drove my s2000 and eagle talon like they were automatics lol..but idk, i can't get the hang of this car no matter what i try. i mean i can shift fine and smooth under normal driving, but if i go to have a tiny bit of fun it just seems..idk like it jerks kinda

Not sure what you're talking about. There are plenty of track videos posted on the site where you can see people shifting quickly. If you're accelerating slowly, a slow shift will be smoothest. If you're accelerating under WOT, a quick shift will be the smoothest. It's more a matter of maintaining the acceleration forces during WOT acceleration than anything else.
