Default Viper 5501 installed on a 6MT with detailed wiring diagram

So my viper 5501 (2way remote start only, no security) in finally completed, and thought i would share all my information. I used a Viper 5501, and a directed electronics T1011 proximity key bypass module, and 2x SPST N.O. relays, and 1x 3PDT relay.

It could be done using 4s SPST N.O. and 1 SPDT(or SPST N.C.) relay. using a 3PDT relay is a huge space savings and a requires less wiring. My 3PDT relay came from Digikey for $14 plus a chassis mount relay base for $9.

The car functions normally as it should, clutch is NOT bypassed, but using two relays it is "simulated being depressed" for the duration of the start cycle. After the start the clutch relays return to their normal state. There are two clutch switches. The 6MT does have a neutral switch whether or not you have S-mode. Unfortunately the neutral switch is only supplied with 12V via the output of PIN 73 of the IPDM, once the car is running and the BCM and ECU monitor this signal opening and closing every pass thru neutral. The remote start needs a (-) signal to initiate a start, so the neutral switch is completely re-wired to be a grounded switch which operates a newly placed relay in-line with the output from the IPDMs pin 73 which used to goto the neutral switch. THe old neutral switch connected is simply disconnected and jumpered and the relay now serves as the "new" neutral switch. Be sure all diodes are added as the diagram shows otherswise the remote start with still see enough voltage drop through the relay coil to make it think it is in neutral even thou it is not. So using this neutral system the car starts just like an automatic with no shutdown procedures required to "arm" it. As long as the shifter is in neutral the remote start will carry on with a start sequence.

One set of relay contacts takes the 12v that comes from the clutch PPS that normally would have supplied pin 99 of the BCM and interupts it as soon as the (-) status output from the remote starter is applied to the relay coil. This makes the BCM believe the clutch pedal position switch has changed. At this same time the next set of relay contacts applies 12V to pin 114 of the BCM which also makes the BCM believe the clutch interlock switch has changed positions. Now the car things someone is in the car and the clutch has been pushed in.

The SPST start button relay i added now gets a (-) start signal from the remote start for .6seconds, this closes the relay contacts and applies a ground to the wire going to pin 89 of the BCM. With the Key Bypass module having been powered up for only 10seconds by the remote start, the car now sees the clutch pushed in, the key in the car and a the start button having been pressed. The BCM/ECU take over control of the car and start it up as normal. The remote starts sees a rise in voltage and realizes the car has started. 10sec after the start sequence begins the bypass module powers down and the car thinks the key is no longer in the car, all doors remain locked and the car remains running indefinitely. The only function the remote start cannot do is shut down the car on its own, as it would normally turn off ignition to kill the car, but since you do not tap into ignition the remote start has nothing to kill. The only way to shut is to give the start button relay another (-) pulse. Basically like doing another start sequence. i simply use the remote starts (-) trunk output to pulse the start relay. Car shuts down no problem now. Because the remote start itself cant shut the car off after its 12min cycle, there is no point having the remote start active and the clutch relays pushed for 12min, so i have reduced the runtime of the remote start to 1 min only. After one min the remote start shuts down, and relays return to normal static state.

Hope that helps for anyone to looking to remote start there 6MT....i know i couldnt much valuable info out there for this.

cheers
