Default Dashcam hardwire connection 24 hours parking monitoring

Hi Everyone!

I’m considering installing a dashcam in the Z, and I’ve heard there’s a hardwire kit available for 24-hour video recording that prevents the car battery from fully discharging. This kit apparently includes three terminals: VCC+, GND-, and ACC. The ACC connections are supposed to go to the 'Cigar Lights' fuse. However, I’m unsure where to connect the VCC+ terminal, as it requires a constant power source. Do you have any recommendations on which connector I could use for this purpose? Also, what’s your opinion on these hardwire kits?

Thanks for your time!

Finally, I did it using Constant power (VCC) using AAC -> CIGAR LIGHTER and VCC+ -> STOP LAMP
Rusty, sx moneypit and Laffin like this.

how does it prevent the cam from draining the battery if it is recording for a long duration of time?

Due the hardwire kit, a hardwire kit for a dashcam is an accessory that allows the camera to connect directly to the vehicle's electrical system instead of using the cigarette lighter or USB port. This kit includes wires that connect to the car's fuse box and typically comes with a voltage regulator to protect the car's battery.

The main purposes of a hardwire kit are:

Constant power supply: Keeps the dashcam running even when the car is off, which is useful for parking mode.

Battery protection: Many kits feature an automatic shutoff function to prevent the car battery from draining completely.

Clean installation: Helps hide the wires and maintain a tidier appearance in the vehicle.

I did this and it still drained the battery. My car is kept in the garage anyway, so I rewired it to the power-socket fuse.
