Default Looking to add Bolt ons, few questions

Hello,

I'm looking to get a few parts for my Z. CAI, y-pipe, exhuast. Part list below.

Z1 3" CAI

https://www.z1motorsports.com/z1-pro...t-p-22715.html

Motordyne Resonated XYZ

https://motordyneengineering.com/pro...ith-resonator/

Motordyne Shockwave

https://motordyneengineering.com/pro...ockwave-e370z/

Questions:

1.) Thoughts on this setup combined?
2.) Will I pass emissions? if not what can I change or do to do so?

3.) Does anyone have any suggestion for different parts aside from what I have listed? I.e better performance
4.) Who can do a tune? Remote tune? Any recommendations? I am located in the DMV area.

Thank you so much in advance!

I'm sure others will attest - you can search throughout the forum and see videos or links to videos as far as sound of exhaust setups etc. Personally - I like the setup - Motordyne was 2nd on my list since I do prefer Fast Intentions a little more and that is what I winded up going with.

My setup is pretty much Z1 CAI, Fast Intentions HFCs and then a Fast Intensions CBE.
I winded up getting my car tuned with Jotech since they were local - and it was able to produce 319WHP.

As for passing emissions - typically (and someone will correct me if I am wrong) - the tune will take care of it - but that is something you might want to ask your tuner before adding some parts. I can't see a CAI and a CBE not allowing you to pass your inspection - but then again I live in TX but from what I understand - the tune is what will make sure that you pass.

From a tuning perspective - a lot of people on the forum will suggest going with Seb if you are doing remote and a couple of others as well. For me - Jotech was local and they had really good reviews so I winded up going with them, since they were doing the HFC install as well. My only regret was probably doing an Uprev tune vs ECUTech but since i'm not FI - it probably doesn't really matter much.

Anyway - good luck and my suggestion - is just go down the rabbit hole of the forum. Most if not ALL your questions will/can be answered by previous posts. This platform is really old - 14yrs as a whole so there has been a lot of knowledge shared over the years that still holds true today. Since the search feature is kinda bad (at least in my experience) - what I typically do is go to Google and start my search with:

the370z: 'what I am asking google to search for'

- this typically will bring up all the forum threads from people having the same question.

Great response, do you know how I can get in contact with Seb? I'll look up Fast Intentions too!

The Shockwave is a cat-back exhaust, so it will include the Y-pipe. You do not need to purchase the XYZ-Pipe in addition to the Shockwave.

Emissions are not a concern until you decide to remove the catalytic convertors and replace with a set of Test pipes (though you can run High Flow Catalytic Test Pipes $$$).

I believe you can just go to their website to reach out to them - their number is listed on the About Page:
https://www.specialtyz.com/about-us

I'm sure others will chime in with their experience since Seb is pretty popular with most of the remote tuning crowd.

I may be mistaken, but as long as you keep your CATs on, you will likely pass emissions without any issues.

Like NecioVato said - this forum is a goldmine of information, be patient and search through the posts, there's a LOT to go through and it's worth it.

I want to do the ART pipes but I know with those I'll def fail emissions. I'd have to take it off and on to do the emissions once every two years here in Virginia. Not sure if worth it. Thoughts?

Also are you happy with the Shockwave? Saw the owner at Admintuned saying it's not very much of an upgrade over the stock exhaust and to go Fast Intentions or Tomei.

Lastly thoughts on Z1 CAI vs Stillen Gen 3?

Nice is it worth tuning if I am just doing a 3" CAI and Shockwave Motordyne?

I would say it depends - if you think you’ll get Test Pipes or HFC or LTH soon - might be best to wait and get it all done at one time. If you feel you’ll be waiting for a little bit - like a year - I would then consider a tune to take advantage of what you currently have.

In the end - it all depends on you; again for me - I winded up waiting bc I knew I was going to have a shop install my HFCs and figured I would get it all done at the same time etc. Regardless - good luck

A 3" CAI requires tuning. Admin Intake, Z1 Race intakes both require a tune.

From Z1:

Quote:
Installation Note: Because the diameter of the piping has been increased, a tune is required. Crash bar modification on the 370Z is required to allow the large high-flow air filters to clear your front bumper.
