Default Rear fog light

Hopefully someone can help, the rear fog light has to be turned on using the headlight switch and it's not a brake light, I've seen them advertised as a rear brake/fog light, but the owner's manual only says it is a rear fog light,is it a fog and brake light or just a fog light, thanks for the advice, cheers

In OEM form, I remember it's meant to be a fog light only. Someone corrects me if I'm wrong.

In OEM form, you are correct. There should be a separate switch on the stalk for the fog light. This a Sino/European requirement. In the US, all we have is a reflector from the factory. However, there are several aftermarket replacements that we in the US can tie into our brake and reverse lights.
Most of the threads in the forum relate to the aftermarket lights.

From the factory, it is strictly a rear fog light. But it is my understanding that it can be easily rewired to work as a brake light instead. Or, you can purchase the various replacement LED light kits that convert it to backup\brake\fog light or whatever you want it to do.

Here's an example:

Thanks for your replies, I think I might leave it as is we haven't been getting any smog in Western Australia lately, although I do like the idea of an extra brake light on the car especially with the driver's we have over here.

Mine is set up as a brake light and flashes like the Formula One cars. It gets your attention
