Default How Smooth Should It Be @ 70+MPH?

Hey guys, I just bought this and absolutely love it. The one thing I've noticed is that it's not overly smooth above 70mph. It's not terrible but there's a little vibration and some shaking (not much) in the steering wheel. I just sold an Audi A6 which was the smoothest car I've ever driven - glass smooth, so maybe I've got a jaded view. Also, I've had performance cars all my life, so I understand it should have a rougher ride.

Thanks.

****Note - it had a tire that needed to be rebalanced. Fixed and feels great now.****

Not normal. It should be very smooth.

The increase in downforce becomes noticeable to me around 70-80 mph and the car actually becomes more stable. That stability is pretty solid until you start to reach 120+ mph in my experience with the stock aero.

It's due to cheap tires or they are out of balance.

Absolutely! 9 times out of 10, a vibration in the steering wheel at highway speeds is caused by out of balance tires or cheap Chinese knockoffs.

Not necessary a "Chinese knockoffs", one or more out of balance tire(s) and/or alignment issue(s) can cause that.

I know Chinese made stuffs sometimes can be bad some harshly label every Chinese stuffs might seems a bit...... harsh.....

On the topic, it should be smooth, I got mine to 110 and it feels safe and smooth.

Agreed but when it comes to high performance tires, I have never heard of, seen or experienced a good Chinese tire brand. Yes, I am talking from experience.

PS: To be clear, I’m not referring to known and well-established name brand tires that have a manufacturing plant in China. I’m referring to unknown Chinese brands actually copying major brand tires and selling them at a fraction of the price. “You get what you pay for” has never been more true in this case.

Good info. I'm on OE sport suspension with an add-on Carbon Signal wing and feel more in control (planted) at 100 mph than 70. I haven't taken it above 100 but nice to know the aero cutoff around 100.

Low profile tires can benefit from a Road Force Balancing, in which not every tire shop has the equipment to perform. My experience has been that traditional balancing isn't quite good enough for the low profile tires we have, leaving a tiny bit of vibrations at a certain speed.

My local Firestone and Costco don't Road Force Balancing. Chances are, the dealership just wanted to spend the least amount of make-ready...if they put on some cheapo tires on, they probably didn't RFB it...that's if the dealership even had the equipment to do so.

Rep at a Discount Tire told me all DT locations do RFB.

To close this out. It needed a tire to be rebalanced. Perfect now!
