Default Read & reset codes via Openport 2.0 Tactrix & Consult

Hi everyone, I've recently bought 370z, and I'm surprised there are no popular topics on diagnostic cables & software.

I've had an turbo Audi previously and Vag Com & MPLS cables and software were very powerful tools to read all parameters, configure lots of stuff, read and write ECU, have logs, etc. In fact I never visited any technician to scan the codes and interpret them to a solution. And cost was less than 20$ for both.

Same for BMW there is a ISTA/rheingold software with a 15$ cable

Hence I'm looking for the same soft&cable for Nissan.

I've checked local forum, and have not found any topics related to code readers, apart of general cheap ELM, torque pro and some OBD2 brand agnostic scanners.

As going to the dealer/indy each time I have code ( maybe Nissan will throw them less frequently than Audi or BMW ) and pay same money which I can spend on the cable only once, seems stupid for me.

Fortunately I found info on a Russian website: ( google chrome will translate it for you )
https://www.drive2.ru/l/549535637758279962/

CABLE:

1. Original cable:
https://www.tactrix.com/index.php?op...2534&Itemid=41

2. Copy:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000...rch-mainSearch

SOFTWARE:
https://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5998349

And I'm curious now: If anyone tried to go that way ?

If you want to write to the ECU then you will need one of the tuning programs. ECUtek or Uprev. There are others but not nearly as good. As far as reading and logging there are many many applications that do that with a simple ODBII reader and a free or nominal cost application. Then there are ones in the 200-500 range that would do most programing that an average person would need.

Nope.

Go with Ecutek.

There is a BIG difference between the Nissan and VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) ECU and electronics.

The Nissan ECU programming is done in-house, so EVERYTHING has to be reverse engineered. This is difficult and very time consuming. UpRev and EcuTek are two companies that have done this and offer a good product.

The VAG ECU (or more accurately the "DME") programming is done by Bosch or Siemens and they seem to leak info like a sieve... so EVERYONE can poke around or just buy a kit from RossTech.

Also, since the VAG needs to meet the regulations of MANY countries, it needs a more modular and programmable system. Nissan does this by having a different parts for different countries.

If you want to read trouble codes, any generic OBD scanner will do. If you want to read codes from all the modules, then you will need something like the $14 enhanced diagnostic add-on for OBDFusion (or just buy an OBDLink MX+ and they are included)

If you want to reprogram modules.... well, generally the 370z doesn't support much of that. There are a few timeouts that you can change in the BCM, but nothing as exciting as what you get with a VAG vehicle.

As for downloading a program from a Russian website, that's not something I will ever do.
In my eyes, that is just too risky for my PC and home network.

I have been trying to do this as well. So far I have been able to download and run the Nissan consult III plus software. I am now trying to get a decent VCI so that the software can connect to the car. I think you can program the ECU and BCM through the consult III software but am not 100% sure. If you know of any decently priced VCI's that would be great.
