Next upgrades for Z
Hope everybody’s days going good. I currently have a 2013 370 (7AT) with 50k miles. My intention is to twin turbo it in the next 2 years. But for now I just want to get louder and look better. Are there any recommendations for upgrades that would improve the performance/sound of the car while simultaneously getting it ready for turbos? The parts currently in my shopping cart are an oil cooler, brake kit and high flow cats. (Btw I currently only have a Borla S type catback exhaust and some z1 CAI as far as upgrades go)

I wouldn't spend money on intakes because they will be removed with a TT setup. I'd hold on the the exhaust for now, it's good enough, yeah it won't be loud but it works. A nice oil catch can would be good. A good diff would eliminate that "one wheel peel" being that your base has a open dif. A simple safety upgrade would be an fire extinguisher in front to the driver seat on the bottom.

If you don't have a oil or transmission cooler those will afford better performance now and in the future.

I'm in the crowd that thinks bolt-ons are wasted money (well, at least the intake side) unless you really know you want to go that direction. Being lower power/NA has a lot of merit to it, but if long term is TT, then just leave the intakes stock for now.

Read the original post. His goal is to improve sound and looks. He has, for some reason, a borla exhaust.
hop on youtube and listen to some clips of Fast Intentions, Motordyne, or maybe Tomei, and see which one you like and get that For looks, you need to dig through some picture threads and see what kinda aero, if any, you want And then you need to fix the stance Read this: Wheel Fitment 101: START HERE Then read it again Then read it again Then ask questions Dont spend any money until then

I have a 7at as well. For me wheels were never an issue since I have the 19" black Rays. Many people reccommend lowering first but I dont track it so didn't do that. I got a full exhaust first, then resonated HFCs, then z1 CAI, then took it to be tuned. Z1 plenum and exhaust cooler. Recently I've ordered a new hood and a super charger kit, so sorta the same boat as OP. I have to go back to retune now, as well.
Good luck, man. I think I've had 15 cars in my life, mostly muscle and sports cars, and the Z is still my favorite to drive. |
