Default 20 Coupes (and a Couple Convertibles) You Could Buy Instead of the C8 Corvette

Autoweek was doing a compare of 20 Coupes (and a Couple Convertibles) You Could Buy Instead of the C8 Corvette

Here is what they said about the Z
2020 Nissan 370Z
I drove both the Heritage Edition and the Nismo 370Z last year, and the cheapo-stripper 370Z Heritage version is the one that made me check my bank account. Get that sweet, smooth VQ V6 engine making 332 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque and redline it all day long on the street. The 370Z doesn't have go-directly-to-jail speed, just hefty-ticket speed. The base price is about half the Corvette C8's.

It's a pretty terrible list since nobody's cross shopping the Corvette against the cars on that list

It's another article written just to be written. If you know any freelance writers in the friends or family, you'll see some reaching just to put something out.

Barring electrical and transmission issues, the C8 is like the bestest car on planet earf forever and ever — when we're just talking on paper and the straight up mid-engine allure.

But everyone's entitled to like what they do. Like, I know a C7 arguably does literally everything better than a 370Z (even cargo, ground clearance, Android Auto and mileage), but I backed out of that move when I had the chance a little earlier. Like, I kinda am accepting that I'm choosing a "worse" car. And then there's people who just like their Miata's and 86's. Dem intangibles.

This review is some what far fetched how can you compare a Nissan 370Z to a C8 Corvette which is half the price? What kind of a review do you call this? This review would have been more believable if he would have compared it to the Nissan 370Z Nismo model instead. The only place the Nissan 370Z can give the C8 Corvette a challenge would indeed be at a road course. For what you do get the 2019 Nissan 370Z Heritage Edition is actually a very nice vehicle for what you are paying for. The C8 Corvette is more closer in the Nissan GTR category really which is not fair again since the Nissan GTR surpasses the overall price of the C8 Corvette. This writer is trying to say the C8 Corvette is basically the best thing since sliced bread not true. I was never a Corvette fan personally as even in youth I did not like the Chevrolet camp to each his own I say.

My problem is you can’t really compare a Z to anything else except Maybe the new Supra?

It’s not in the “super car” category like the C8 and it’s not a “muscle car” like the Mustangs, Camaros or Challengers.

It really is on its own. It is still what it always was... an n inexpensive sports car. A throw back, even.

The Z is a weird car in general - there are very few sports cars that are still V6 NAs. Not to say that the Z doesn't perform well - it does but I wouldn't compare it to a Corvette - in particular the C8. Maybe...maybe the C6 model but not the C8. Add in cars like the Mustangs and Camaros and like others have said - you wouldn't compare those bc the Z isn't a stoplight drag car (unless you go FI).

And I wouldn't compare it to the FT86/BRZ since that is a car that is much cheaper and bc of the HP difference. I just think the Z is a better car (used market) and better value compared to that car especially if you are not tracking it. Either way - hopefully the new Z will open up that door to make comparisons to other cars and in particular the Supra. I think you get the Z bc you want a balanced NA car that can do everything well but not great out of the box. Just my .02

The title of that article pretty much protects the writer from getting blame..

"20 Coupes (and a Couple Convertibles) You Could Buy Instead of the C8 Corvette"

20 other coupes, any other coupes, doesn't mention are they on the same category, price range, comparable horsepower.

So basically he can put ANY coupes on the list, which he did.

Meanwhile he gets away from getting blamed because the trick he does on the title...

However, his work shows how stupid he is...

To make thing worst, it's the editor of Autoweek... he/she can allow such a garbage piece to get posted.

Anyway, I feel quite happy after reading that piece of sh!t, cos now I know two more person on earth is more stupid than me (the writer and the editor).

Can't really claim they made no improvements at all, just not major ones that a regular consumer would notice

The Nismo had noticeable suspension improvements ... that is if you driven the 09-14 vs 15&up
