Oil - The debate that will never end
Hope you are all well and enjoying the weekend. We all know the oil wars have been going on ever since God sent a meteor to earth to destroy all the dinosaurs and turn them into black goop that we all go cray cray for.
We know not all oil is made the same. If we were to get a UOA for every oil brand out there, say at a virgin sample, there would be differences. Heck even if we used a Z engine for testing all oils at a 5k intervals changes, we would get different readings. With all the tech today, we know all oils are not made the same. I came across this youtube page: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2r...Og_p0Ng/videos I am in no way affiliated with the man but he does some good interesting tests. If you want to go to the start of the "oil playoffs" start off from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9DWGtXpYUc From that point move on upwards and see the latest video. Quality work in my opinion and it is always good to know. The results you see will surprise some of you. Enjoy. PLEASE DO NOT ASK WHICH OIL IS BEST. USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION IF THAT DOES NOT SUFFICE GO TO "BITOG" AND USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION THERE AND LOOK AT UOA (USED OIL ANALYSIS) TESTS. I LOVE CAPS IN BOLD. If everyone can put their big boy and girl pants on and refrain from giving their opinion about oil, there should not be a lock. I've given guidance in the form of BITOG. Everyone can duke it out there. I only made this thread to share the fun that comes with this channel testing the oils.
If there is a discussion to be held, it can be regarding other other testing methods. Last edited by Zyonara91; 06-09-2019 at 04:25 PM. |

I would prefer a method that keeps oil temp at the 210F+ range while performing the “grind” test. Interesting channel!
