Question Optimal model year to commence a build?

Hello everyone, I am interested in quite extensively “building” a 370z; Forced induction, Air suspension, Body kit, etc. Subsequently my following question is, is there an ideal year to do so on? I don’t see the value in purchasing a brand new vehicle, as the majority of the components will be replaced. Thoughts?

As far as mechanically I don't think it will matter but starting in 2017 Nissan started installing less rom in the ecu's which will give you less tuning capabilities (at least with Ecutek).

The year is less relevant than the condition and price

The engine, chassis, suspension, transmission didn't change across the years much. very minor differences

and if you're tossing the suspension and alot of the engine for aftermarket, then it really dont matter

You should DEFINITELY not buy a new 370z, its a terrible waste of money especially if you're tearing it down

Sounds like you're doing a lot and I know you also mentioned body kit. I'd say 2012 & earlier if you like the front fangs, 2013 & later for no fangs & led's.

2012 and up. The earlier ones had some issues that these do not. Such as the stupid steering wheel lock issues.

Think they expanded the rom in 2014. Then went back to less rom in 2017. Believe the early 2009 ecu's have a slightly different ecu set-up.

Could be. I know the 2015 had 15 available maps, my 2017 had 4.

Three of my maps were used for timing, that left me squat for any RaceRom features.

I got 93, 91, Stock, valet parking which limits rpm to 2,000 rpms I think. And anti-start.
