Default Any high hp high mileage boosted guys out there?

Am looking at building the z 800whp+ and was wondering how the vq platform is holding up. I know a few guys hit the 1000hp milestones, butt how do these cars perform off the dyno. Other than a dyno graph, Can these cars be driven? 1/4 times? drivability? Reliability? or would a swap would be a more reliable option?

Over 800hp is a problem. Not many folks have been reliable. I know of one that is over this and he drag races it. Broke the input shaft on the tranny the first time he turned it up to 26psi of boost at the track. He is using the car as intended though. Not much out there on this car. I know a good bit about it. The other 2 high hp cars appear to just be dyno queens. One has been rebuilt several times and the other is on it's 2nd motor build. You will need deep pockets whatever way you want to go.

This question would have been better in the Forced Induction section.

They have all been show cars or trailer queens. They can be driven in the fact that they would meet all DOT requirements for a street car, headlights, turn signals, etc. When you can throw many 10s of thousands of dollars into a car for fun you can easily afford to have another car or two for daily driving.

Yeah that's what I figured as I have been following those high hp guys builds for a few years and I applaud them for raising the bar, but I was just curious if any of these builds are actually and most importantly driven, as I haven't seen them post much other than dyno charts and build sheets.

The one guy that broke his input shaft was going to use his. He is saving up to upgrade the tranny to a Hollinger Sequential. I messaged with him the other day and he had a life event. He was pushed off the road by an 18 wheeler into on coming traffic. He hit an 18 wheeler on that side of the interstate. The 18 wheeler that pushed him off the road took off. So, he is out for a while due to injuries. He was in a daily driver. This is the only car I know that was being used as intended. He is not on the forum much. MA-motorsports did his build quietly. Some days I wish I would have done the same, Quietly....
