Default Carfax: 1 Owner vs Corporate Fleet

Sup guys,

What do you all think about Corporate fleet vehicles...especially with manual transmissions? Ideally, a 1 owner vehicle sounds better in theory considering the vehicle was properly driven and maintained as well as a legit excuse for selling or trading the car in. On the other hand, I feel like corporate fleet vehicles are just abused. Am I wrong? I think it's so interesting a lot of car salesmen do not know how to drive manual, yet they move these cars around. Is there anyone way of knowing if the vehicle was used as a press or demo car?
The reason I'm asking is because I'm looking for low mileage Zs and they tend to be corporate fleet vehicles. Thoughts?

I would avoid corporate fleet vehicles like the plague. That being said though, what corporations offer 370Zs for their employees to drive? I might have to apply for a job

Haha, who knows. It's most likely the execs and marketing folks. Apart from that though, I've had a few instances where salesmen would pull the car up for me and let's just say it wasn't pretty.

I agree with you, but a part of me was hoping not to worry about it. So here's the thing - I look through the interwebs at least every other day waiting for the right combo Z I'm looking for. Just today I noticed several new postings similar to what I'm looking for have been added. All of their carfax report them as corporate fleet vehicles from TN something just seems weird. On top of that, the specific vehicle I was looking at (I got so excited since it was the exact combo) had over 3k miles put on it in about 3 months................

I guess I'll keep waiting.

It is quite common for companies to provide cars for some of their employees. These employees are usually in the upper level positions.

I know some people from Toyota get a new Lexus every year. Those cars get free maintenance and even free gasoline. And these people are usually matured professionals.

Not to say that they don't abuse the cars, but just less likely than a 20 years old guy. I think if the cars checked out ok, I wouldn't mind buying one.

my 17 nismo said it was a fleet vehicle according to the carfax...I though who the hell fleets out a Nismo?!
I don't care though I drive it harder than the previous guy did anyway until the wheels fall off it

A lot depends on what type of fleet the car was in. If it was rental, taxi, police, etc, I'd steer clear. For a corporate perk vehicle, I'd get it checked out by a mechanic - just like any other used car.

First guess is these belonged to Nissan USA (based in TN) and were probably "pool" cars. Basically cars employees check out for a day, week, or month and then provide feedback on when they turn them back in. Based on what a buddy who works for Toyota has told me these types of cars get the sh!t beat out of them.

IMHO run away. Eventually you'll find what you're looking for and it won't be a fleet vehicle

Thanks for the input, guys.

@Gomer_110, that's what I'd imagine. Just thinking about how many different people rode the clutch is disturbing. I can understand the automatics, but I think it's crazy they give these fully loaded manual nismos out to basically be joy ridden. I guess if any of us were given a free manual nismo to be "tested" we'd drive the hell out of them as well. Oh well...

I'm guessing some of these cars may be press cars? If so, beware, lol!

Maybe it's the yellow one used in this comparison: Clash of Clans: 2017 Type R vs 2018 370Z vs 2018 STI

I guess it is like buying any used cars. You just have to check it out.

privately owned or leased cars could also be abused, hidden accidents etc.
