Any Single Mass Flywheel Owners?

Having CSC issues so I plan on dropping the tyranny and installing the Z Speed CMAK unit. Will likely install a new clutch kit ... Stage 1 or Stage 2.

Default Any Single Mass Flywheel Owners?

Having CSC issues so I plan on dropping the tyranny and installing the Z Speed CMAK unit. Will likely install a new clutch kit ... Stage 1 or Stage 2. Car is driven mildly ... no track days or launches. My question concerns switching out the factory dual-mass flywheel for a single mass one. I understand that it allows for better throttle response, but can also lead to "chattering" at low rpms. Evidently, this can be partially mitigated by using a high quality tranny fluid such as Redline 85 or Motul Gear 300. I currently run Motul fluids, so no issue in that regard. However, I'd like to have some idea as to how loud or annoying the chatter can be. I'm OK with some noise, but I'd like to avoid the car sounding like a diesel truck at idle. For those of you who have switched to a single mass flywheel, can you please share your experiences in terms of drivability, noise and any other pluses or minuses. If I elect to go this route, I'll likely choose a mid-weight (18-19 lb) flywheel versus a super-light one. Thanks in advance for your input.

I have the CMAK, stage 2 cluthc, and lightweight flywheel. At idle, there's no noise. However, between around 900 to 1500 rpms, there is some chatter. It's loud, but goes away quick if you get on the gas. The clutch is mildly stiffer, but not by much, and even enjoyable to someone who's driven really stiff clutches in the past. All in all, to me, it was well worth it (after about 5k miles since the install).

I have an Australian Clutch Services (because I live down-under) lightweight flywheel and 1350kg clutch in my car which sees a lot of track use.

Since the car has done a lot of work, everything is noisy, most of which is gearbox rattle in neutral with clutch released and there is an harmonic just off idle, but the kit does what I want and the engine revs drop with lower rotational inertia of a LW flywheel just like I want it to do.

NVH will definitely suffer and you will notice it - the question is "do you care".

I'm on the ZSpeed/South Bend Stage 2 setup because I was going for the HD CSC. At the time the flywheel was 18.5 lb. Pretty quiet. You'll hear it but it's nothing to the extent that you'd actually care. I personally wouldn't mind it a tad lighter assuming it doesn't have reliability issues.

Improved response, engine braking and reduced rev hang is all smiles from a driving standpoint. Your passengers will hate it.

I'm running the Z1 clutch/flywheel combo and honestly the chatter increase is pretty minimal compared the stock... probably because its already super noisy in stock form.
