Default Aftermarket Flywheel

Does anyone have an aftermarket flywheel installed on their 370z? If so, how do you like it? Performance and power difference? Any other input would be appreciated, whether good or bad.

I'm at about 36,000 miles now and just doing a bit of research ahead of time when the clutch slave cylinder goes out so that I can just go with a full clutch kit and different flywheel. I see that Z1 offers some pretty nice ones.

Thanks in advance.

I've got the Z1 kit and I am pretty happy with it.

It's hard for me to give an apples-to-apples comparison because I installed it after I went turbo because my OEM clutch was slipping... so I guess you could say I like that it holds the torque and doesn't slip =)

What I can say is that the engagement feels like OEM, just a little extra pedal effort. The light flywheel definitely revs much faster in neutral, but it's hard for me to gauge any kind of real performance gain since I went from a clutch that couldn't hold on at peak torque to one that did. You will get a little more chatter with the single mass flywheel but IMO not that much more than stock (since stock is already pretty noisy).

All in all, I'd say it's a pretty good replacement for the stock clutch if you want to replace and will also hold quite a bit of power.... but I probably wouldn't bother if you are going to stay NA and you feel your existing clutch still has a lot of life left in it.

Noob question here for you, how do you determine your clutch is slipping? Is there like a feeling you should watch out for?

Felt like my left foot went rogue and started pushing on the clutch pedal while I was on the throttle.

Go the full way. Labor cost shouldn't really change.

Part of the issue of the shifting quality imo is that the revs don't drop fast enough, and the OEM dual-mass setup feels a bit vague as a result of trying to tone down noise and vibration.

You're also helping the general fact that the response out the box is so-so, although you're gonna legit feel the engine braking. I went with the ZSpeed kit because I was already looking at their HD CSC.

Don't know how it is for others, but one thing that didn't change was the engagement point. Once my setup broke in, it's still high — still a bit more than I'd like even after adjustment. The feel is there, though. I am curious if the CMAK delete kit changes this. But of course there's also the RJM pedal...

I've got a South Bend lightweight flywheel (19 lbs I believe.) that Joe at Zspeed installed.
It is definitely quicker than stock due to the reduction in rotating mass.
Makes a cool warbling sound too.

I run JWT clutch and light flywheel

i agree with all above and synchro rev match is lightning fast. It takes a bit to adjust heel toe technique to such a quick motor but its worth the effort for sure.

highly recommended.
