Circuit Gilles Villeneuve: FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX DU CANADA

Anyone heading up to Montreal this weekend for F1? Also, if you've been up there in years past for the race, are there any "go to" clubs/bars for this weekend?

Anyone heading up to Montreal this weekend for F1? Also, if you've been up there in years past for the race, are there any "go to" clubs/bars for this weekend? I've stayed in Montreal a number of times, but never on a race weekend, so any tips are appreciated.

I used to go ever year when they had the V-12, V-10 and V-8s. This new generation engine leave me cold. In any case, check out Alexanders on Peel street. They usually close the street off and have Ferrari night, Lambo night, Porsche night etc. The main party is on Crescent Street. It used to be really cool with bands and great bars and restaurants. Like many things, it has gotten out of hand in recent years. Actually the whole city is one big party during the Grand Prix....Montreal is so cool anyway that you'll have a great time. Oh, don't miss the Old Port. I ran into Lewis Hamilton and his former girlfriend in a hotel elevator. I can't remember the name of the hotel, but it is in the Old Port area and has a really cool rooftop bar....Jenson Button's dad was sitting next us a few years ago. Ask around in the stands....I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions. Check out Little Italy. It is off the beaten path a little, but has really good food and a nice festival during the Grand Prix. Easily accessible on the Metro.

In case you aren't aware, it is Canada's 150th anniversary so the place will be even more festive. Be patient....the crowds will be nuts. Don't even consider trying to eat anywhere on Crescent St or even Peel street for that matter. St Denis St. has some nice places to eat if you get away from the city center. The same for St Laurent St. If you are a guy traveling without your wife or girlfriend there are some great strip clubs in the area near Crescent St. I can't speak from experience but that is what I've been told.

I wasn't aware of the 150th, but AWESOME! I've extensively sampled the strip clubs in that area, and yes from experience, they're great!

All I can say is WOW!!! What an experience. You weren't kidding about Montreal being insane on Grand Prix weekend. I've never seen the city like that before, its always been fun, but never that wild. It was a total blast!

Also, I saw one nice looking Z over the weekend. It was a white Z parked on St. Catherine's Street around 12:30 on Saturday night. It looked clean and I saw the driver get in and pull away, but I didn't get a chance to see if he was a member on here since the car was parked on the other side of the street and I was simply too hammered to make the walk across traffic.

Thanks again for the great advice!!! I'm definitely going back next year, even though the only F1 sounding cars were the vintage ones they took out for the heritage/vintage race.

I love the vintage F1 cars. They don't all sound the same like the modern cars do. The old DFVs have a great sound. Also the Ferrari flat 12. I wish modern F1 would allow some variety. Never happen since for some reason they want road car relevance. What the hell does F1 have to do with road cars? It was never a concern before.
