Default Airbag Question

Do you know if try to pop this (attached) slightly open the airbag will pop up? I'm trying to hide cable for dash cam and this is the only part that scares me a bit. I don't wanna die yet

If someone has a better idea of how to hide the cable can you share how were you successful?

Shouldn't go off, just go carefully. Best bet is to disconnect the negative terminal while doing it. Then nothing will happen.

As per Dirk McGurck, disconnect one of the battery cables (doesn't matter which one) before starting work and you will be OK. No power = no pop.

The airbag isn't attached to the pillar. Just pop it off. Nothing to worry about. Unless you're just really paranoid, I wouldn't even disconnect the battery.

Or you can use a plastic trim tool to push the wire under that piece, then move the weatherstrip to get it down to the fuse box. That's how I did it. I didn't want to break any clips. Where are you going to attach the power lead on the passenger side? It would be much easier to go down the driver's side to the fuse box.

This post reminds me of an episode of Top Gear.

On a side note, which dash cam are you using?

Thanks for the replies. I think i will use the battery method as a precaution. I'm using the passenger side because I plan to use the cigarette port right under the glove compartment. I bought Rexing cam as it gets great reviews on Amazon but now that I tested it it's not great. I'll try to adjust settings and see but I like how it's somehow discreet in the car.
