I'm struck by how smooth he's shifting as he describes the clutch and brake feel improvements.

Is it really that much of a difference as he describes?

Honestly these cars have the same brakes/clutch so im going to credit the newer fluids he is probably driving on in the NISMO to the better clutch/brake feel he is getting. Stainless steel brake lines, new fluid and RJM clutch pedal is all you need on a sport/nismo to get better clutch/brake feel improvements that will really strike you. Good review though I felt he was pretty spot on key differences with the Sport vs Nismo.

Definitely a spot on review. Which is why after all my car searching, I still have an attachment to this car. I don't get so much negativity behind the Z. Yeah I have my gripes and it's short about 50HP but... nothing compares. If I had to say which were the best sub 70k sports cars, my pics would be the Z and the EVO X. Both those cars exemplify a perfect combination of balance, power and handling. You get all the feedback, perfect steering weight, ride height, seat positioning. (w/recaros on Evo)

If the Z remained as is but got the VR30 swap and a 100lb loss? The car would be perfect beyond belief.

All Nissan hadda do for the Z35 was update this body style a Lil more. DO NOT switch to electronics and update the VLSD. The Z is pretty close to perfect.

he pretty much narrowed it down for the nismo;

its not faster vs his old Z in a straight line but when he took it on that mountain road is when he saw the biggest different.

With the base model, you get similar handling improvement when swapping out from the heavy stock 18's to the light weight Nismo 19's. There's a major improvement in feeling the suspension doing its job controlling the car instead of having to control the car AND the heavy wheels. Maybe a 20 pound reduction all the way around. Hard to explain but I'm sure you know what I mean.

Also, reduced weight from ditching the cats and stock exhaust for ART pipes and HKS high-power exhaust, probably saved about 35 lbs total there.

The total weight loss alone is equivalent to about a 6 - 7 hp gain.

I'm a subscriber to his channel. I think both he and his bro do a great job with their videos. It also helps that they're both driving cars (Z, Evora) that interest me a great deal.

And they both picked cars that scream dedicated sports car site FEEDBACK. If they added the 4C, you'd have the ONLY 3 sports cars that are RAW.

Honestly my last car was an S2k and that car is sensory overload and was precise in everything it does. Since the Z is a sports car people who drive these cars expect that and when I drove the Z I felt it too. The biggest negatives I had with this car was the clutch, shifter, the way the power is delivered stock and the weight(which isnt really fixable unless you are willing to gut your car). The Z is large for its size but compared to the the cars today I would say its more of a middleweight than heavy which is fine with me. Thankfully all these things can be upgraded through the aftermarket and more. I would say that a stock Z is lacking in overall driver feel compared to others, most expect a car that is already maxed out from the factory (i.e Cayman S, s2000). I did a lot of research on the Z and IMO its more a blank slate. You can mesh this car into anything you want but it starts out as a good sports car for the street. Most people just drive a stock Z and go "meh is trash" but with some simple mods this car can be very good.
